It’s getting close!

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor representatives have both submitted the official requests to wear 8-ounce gloves for their fight on Aug. 26. The NSAC confirmed this to ESPN recently. The issue is that any fight above 147 pounds has to use 10 oz. gloves making the 154 pound MayMac bout an exception if approved. Fighters in the classes below 154 can agree to fight with 8 oz. Bob Bennett confirmed the joint request was received.

Both camps have submitted a waiver by the date we requested (Wednesday). The commission will hear both camps’ reasoning as to why it should deviate from its regulations during a scheduled meeting on Aug. 16th. Our chairman Anthony Marnell will then lead a conversation with the other commission members and they will vote on it that day.

Mayweather offered the concession to McGregor earlier this month finishing with, “Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate.”
