Baharat-Kandare

Bharat Kandare stands as one of the most talented Indian MMA fighters today. The former SFL featherweight champion holds a decorated record of 5-1, with all wins coming via finishes. He is also one of the first Indian MMA fighters and is a pioneer of the sport. He will make his much awaited return to MMA on Sunday, April 23, 2016, on Brave 5. He will be facing Egyptian submission specialist, Ahmed Faress. We caught up with Bharat before the fight and he took some time to answer a few of our questions.

How was your fight camp?

I had my fight camp in Tiger Muay Thai Gym, in Thailand. The training camp was amazing. I have had an amazing weight cut. Earlier I used to face certain problems after cutting weight but as I followed the entire thing step by step, I am facing no such problem.

You went to Jackson-Wink MMA to train under the UFC fighter development program. How was it there?

During my time in Jackson-Wink I learnt a lot of things. I have improved my striking and movement. In my comeback people will get to see my striking and will try to give my best.

What are your thoughts on your opponent?

My opponent can be the best of all but I believe that I am ready to face him. I am ready for this fight. I don’t have a specific plan of knocking him out or submitting him. I go in there and I will try to destroy him as soon as I can and by whatever means I can.

How does it feel to fight in your own country on such a big platform?

I am very excited. I am very happy. I have not fought an MMA fight in over 4 years, I am glad that I have got a stage like Brave 5 to make my return.

What is your message for your fans?
