Before Jeremy Davis tries to improve to 4-0 versus fellow undefeated featherweight standout Peter Barrett at CES MMA 39 on November 4 at Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Mass., on AXS TV Fights, he sat down with Pro MMA Now.

How did you find MMA to begin with?

I was playing college ball for the University of Alabama. I came home because school wasn’t really the route for me at that time. One day I was in a grocery store and an older gentleman approached me. He asked if I was a fighter and I said, “No sir.” He told me that I should fight, but I didn’t think anything of it. A few weeks passed and my buddy asked me to come train. Now it’s five years later and I’m an undefeated professional fighter.

How excited are you to fight for CES MMA?

I’m really excited. When I heard the news, I was at a loss for words. I have a lot of fans around the world who die to see me fight. Now they have an opportunity to do so on AXS TV Fights, and I’m thrilled I have the opportunity to put on a show for them.

What are your expectations?

I want to go in there and execute what I’ve been training. My last fight was short — 17 seconds — so I want to show a little bit more of what I’m capable of. My opponent is game and he’s going to bring everything he can, but I’m a different breed of fighter. I’ve been working on everything.

Knockout, submission or three-round war?

Knockout, of course (laughs)! That being said, I can submit him too if it goes to the ground. I’ll KO or submit Peter Barrett.

Do you have any words for Peter Barrett?

Bring your best. I’ve never been a person to talk trash. I just want him to bring his best, which brings out the best in me. At the end of the night, I’m going to be 4-0 and he’s always going to remember me as the guy who gave him his first loss. That’s how he’s going to remember me — when I give him the first mark in his loss column.
