Before Marquis Brewster makes his highly anticipated professional MMA debut versus Vladimir Kazbecov at CES MMA 36 in Lincoln, R.I., on Friday, the hard-hitting Rhode Island product sat down with ProMMANow.com.
How does it feel to be on the verge of making your pro debut?
It feels awesome, man. It’s been a long time coming and I’m just excited to get in there, get this win and move on to the next one.
Does anything change when you turn pro?
Not really. A few of the rules change and I’m getting paid to fight now, but I’ve always approached my career as that — a career. This is just the next step in my career, and I’m excited.
How excited?
Very (laughs). There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing!
How is this fight going to end?
I hope to end it early, either by knockout or submission. I’m going to be going for the finish as fast as I can, without rushing anything in the process, and try to put that exclamation point on my fight as quick as I can.
Then what’s next?
Then we’re on to the next, trying to go 2-0 (laughs).
