After a great night of fights on May 29th, 2016, there are many interesting fights that can take place. Here is a list of who a few of the winners of UFC Fight Night 88: Almedia VS Garbrandt should compete against next.
Cody Garbrandt: Should fight Bryan Caraway
After derailing the hype train revolved around Almedia in a brutal first round KO, “No Love” definitely deserves at big step up in competition. Like Garbrandt, Caraway derailed a hype train of his own in Aljamain Sterling. This fight makes sense for both fighters as they try to climb towards a title shot.
Jeremy Stephens: Should fight Chad Mendes
After a clear decision win over the former Bantamweight champ, Renan Barao, it was a great rebound for Stephens after dropping a decision loss to Max Holloway in his last outing. Stephens has many great wins under his belt, including one over current lightweight champ, Rafael Dos Anjos. With that said, Stephens has never achieved a UFC title and a great opportunity to take a big leap forward would be a bout with Mendes. For Mendes, it’s a great way to rebound after back to back TKO/KO losses.
Rick Story should fight: Gunnar Nelson
After coming back after a long layout, Story came back to defeat Tarec Saffiedine by unanimous decision. A fight with Nelson, who is coming off an impressive win over Albert Tumenov, would seem to make sense. The winner of this bout would be one step closer to reaching the title.
