Wanderlei Silva

Inspired by my nemesis Kelvin Hunt today we bring you a special Hit or Miss? list.

More often than not there are fighters who leave the UFC with losing records, but today we take a look at five that broke even, just missed the 50/50 mark, or maintained a winning record despite it being not so stellar.

CHRIS LYTLE

This is one of the most no-brain entries on any list like this one. He has twenty fights in the UFC and his UFC.com W/L is 41-18-4, 10-10 in the organization, in a UFC career that spanned from 2003-2011. He has six Fight of the Night honors, the award he is the current record holder for.

BJ PENN

BJ is hit or miss. He has been champion in two divisions and only one other UFC fighter has matched this accomplishment. His UFC.com W/L is 16-10-2, but it seems better than that in your head doesn’t it?

RANDY COUTURE

The second UFC fighter to hold titles in two weight classes on this list, ever to be exact. He has beaten some big names, but it wasn’t always a positive outcome for Randy. UFC’s website has him listed as 19-11 and as much as that is fact it just doesn’t appear in your memory that way. Maybe because he has bigger wins than losses?

SHOGUN RUA

Ready for this? The legendary Shogun Rua is 7-8 in the UFC according to UFC.com. He is a former light heavyweight champion and internet forum favorite. That doesn’t change the fact that he is unsuccessful in the UFC in terms of W/L. Say what you want about legendary PrideFC fighters but they have not fared well in the USA.

WANDERLEI SILVA

Another PrideFC fighter on the list. Wanderlei was supposedly the best light heavyweight on the planet – until he got to the UFC that is. There, he is 4-5 according to UFC.com. From a terrifying combatant in Japan to a mediocre fighter in the USA. A strange journey for Mr. Silva.
