ufc196_Dos_Anjos_vs_McGregorIt’s curious that the current fight odds for the upcoming Conor McGregor (19-2) vs. Nate Diaz (18-10) main event read:

Conor McGregor -420
Nate Diaz +375

The two will square off this Saturday, March 5 in the UFC 196 main event in Las Vegas. Holly Holm will defend her bantamweight title against Miesha Tate in the co-main event.

McGregor is considered the favorite despite having been preparing for a fight at 155-pounds, primarily because Diaz took the fight on such short notice, but also because the Irishman just knocked out longtime champ Jose Aldo in 13-seconds to win the featherweight title.

The additional weight on McGregor and Diaz makes the fight even more intriguing. If it goes to the ground, Diaz should certainly have the advantage due to his BJJ pedigree. However, on the feet, it’s going to be fun to see just how McGregor plans to deal with Diaz’s pressure-style boxing and how Diaz deals with McGregor’s unpredictability and kicks.

My Top Sportsbooks is picking a McGregor TKO win in over 2.5 rounds, but I’m not quite convinced the fight will last that long. At welterweight both guys are going to be carrying more power behind their strikes and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a McGregor finish inside the first round, just as Mystic Mac has once again predicted.
