UFC officials have announced that a welterweight scrap between Matt Brown and Demian Maia has been added to the UFC Fight Night Brazil card on May 14.

The UFC Fight Night Brazil event is expected to be headlined by the middleweight fight between Vitor Belfort and “Jacare” Souza.

Brown (20-13) is coming off a first round submission win over Tim Means in his last outing at UFC 189 last July. He was coming off back-to-back losses against the two last guys to hold the UFC welterweight title in Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler. Brown had won seven consecutive fights with six of those wins via stoppage prior to those two losses.

Maia (22-6) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Gunnar Nelson at UFC 194 in December. He has rattled off four consecutive wins including all three of his fights in 2015.
