Holly Holm just had a huge parade to celebrate her victory over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193. UFC President Dana White has gone on record that Rousey will receive an immediate rematch since she was such a dominant champion. Newly crowned champion Holly Holm agrees with White that Rousey deserves the immediate rematch.

However, Rousey may not be able to fight for another three to six months according to her first interview given to ESPN since losing in dramatic KO fashion against Holm.

Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, has gone on record that they would like to fight against Miesha Tate in an interview with the L.A. Times. if Rousey is going to be out for an extended period of time.

“Holly’s used to staying active,” Fresquez said. “We’re from the old school, and we believe the No. 1 contender is there for a reason. … [Tate] deserves a shot, but it’s not for me to decide.”

Of course, taking a fight against Tate could certainly risk the biggest fight in UFC history when Rousey returns to fight Holm in the rematch.

Frequez said, “We’d like to fight Miesha. We understand there are risks, but Holly’s a dominant champion, and she wants to fight the best. Right now, Miesha is the best.”

Tate was promised a title shot by UFC President Dana White after defeating Jessica Eye in her last outing. However, White then changed his mind and decided to give Holly Holm the title shot without Tate’s knowledge according to her. Tate had lost two previous fights against Rousey, but was the only fighter to make it out of the first round and was competitive with Rousey.

Tate has been in a verbal war against former title challenger Bethe Correia during the past few weeks. However, I’m sure she’d gladly dead that beef for the shot at the title that she was promised earlier if the opportunity presents itself.

The real question is will the UFC risk the biggest rematch in UFC history just to keep the champion busy until Rousey is ready to return?
