edmond tarverdyanIn lieu of his star pupil fighting this Saturday in the UFC 193 headliner in Melbourne, Submission Radio caught up with Coach Edmond Tarverdyan this week. There was no talk about those reports of bankruptcy despite coaching the UFC’s wealthiest athlete. But Tarverdyan did talk about he and his team betting large money ($100,000 – $200,000) on Ronda’s fights.

He also discussed whether or not he wants Rousey to stand and bang or take Holly Holm to the ground, Holm’s boxing credentials, and why she is such a unique opponent. Edmond didn’t give a flat prediction for the fight, other than Rousey of course winning, due to Holm being a “crafty veteran”, and it’s evident he respects the 34-year-old Jackson-Winkeljohn product.

Tarverdyan also spoke about his relationship with Rousey and whether he thinks they will still remain close even after she retires. “I have no doubt in my mind that we’re going to be next to each other and we’re going to know each other the rest of our lives,” Tarverdyan says. “Because this is something special she has done, and I have helped her and been next to her and she’s done great for me. If you ask her, she’ll say, ‘Edmond’s done great for me,’ also.”

But if you ask Momma, now that’s a different story.
