khabib nurmagomedov-ufc165UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0) may want to invest in some bubble wrap to prevent injuries. The Russian fighter has not fought since April 2014, where he beat the now UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos via unanimous decision. He was slated to face TUF winner Tony Ferguson in December at the TUF 22 Finale, but has been forced to pull out of the bout with a rib injury.

Nurmagomedov has been slated to fight to fight Donald Cerrone twice since his last bout in 2014, but has had to withdraw from both fights due to knee injuries. It’s likely that the undefeated fighter could have fought for the title by now had he remain healthy enough to fight and obviously win those respective fights. His grinding style and pace is a handful for anyone in the lightweight division as evident in his win over the current champion Rafael dos Anjos.

No replacement opponent has been named for Tony Ferguson at this time.

The TUF 22 Finale will be headlined by the UFC featherweight scrap between Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes. The event will take place at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on December 11.
