UFC officials are determined to make UFC 194 a blockbuster event and succeeded even more today with the announcement of a great middleweight fight. “Jacare” Souza and Yoel Romero will do battle with the winner likely to get the next middleweight title fight.
The UFC 194 event is set for December 12 and will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be headlined by the UFC featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and interim champ Conor McGregor. The co-main event will feature the UFC middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and challenger Luke Rockhold.
Souza (22-3, 1NC) is coming off a first round submission win over Chris Camozzi in his latest outing in April. Souza was set to face Romero twice before, but Romero had to withdraw from both bouts due to sickness and injury. Souza has won eight consecutive fights, and hasn’t lost since a unanimous decision against Luke Rockhold in 2011.
Romero (10-1) is coming off a third round KO win over Lyoto Machida in his last outing in June. Romero has won six consecutive fights, and also has not lost since 2011 which took place in the Strikeforce promotion as a light heavyweight.
