UFC 73 goes down tonight in Nashville, TN at the Bridgestone Arena. Ovince St. Preux vs Glover Teixeira headlines a stellar card of up and coming prospects. If you are looking to make a little money betting on the fights there are a lot of underdogs who could come up big tonight. Here’s our picks sponsored by SingleNashville.com

First up the main event, Glover Teixeira has lost two straight to Jon Jones and Phil Davis. Both of those are respective losses but at age 35 he’s nearing the end of his run and has fought 26 times and has a lot of miles on him. St. Preux is 32 but he continues to get get better each time he steps into the octagon. Teixeira has built a gym in his house and there are rumblings that he doesn’t train as hard as he did when he was with the Pit and Chuck Liddell. St. Preux is based out of Knoxville but bounces around and trains in Atlanta with ATT and guys like Clint Hester. The former Vol linebacker also has been to California to work with Dan Henderson. This fight is basically a pick ’em in Vegas with Teixeira being a slight favorite. St. Preux is quicker and more athletic. He’s also hungry. Ovince gets the TKO win in Nashville.

Geane Herrera is getting very little respect from the books against Ray Borg tonight. Nearly a 4 to 1 underdog Herrera could make you a lot of money for little risk if he comes out on top. With a perfect 8-0 record “La Pulga” is known as a finisher with only two decisions on his record. Borg is getting a lot of love from Vegas because he’s won two straight in the octagon. New guys in the UFC tend to not get as much love and it makes it a good spot for Herrera. The fight should be exciting and it’s a coin flip as to who wins. But if you want little risk and high reward Herrera could be your guy tonight.

Another UFC newcomer to look at is Oluwale Bamgbose. The heavy handed New Yorker stepped in on short notice to face Uriah Hall. Bamgbose is 5-0 on the regional circuit finishing every opponent in the first round. His opponent’s records are not that great but Hall can be a head case at times. Some nights he’s a killer and some nights he has no killer instinct. It’s worth looking at Bamgbose on that alone. $100 would win you $325 if he wins. On the other side of the coin Hall will require $350 to win just $100.

The last fight we are looking at tonight in Nashville is Timothy Johnson vs Jared Rosholt. Johnson is at +235 tonight. He’s an intriguing prospect who has to cut weight to get to 265. Rosholt only weighed in at 235 which means that Johnson will be about 50 pounds heavier tonight once he is rehydrated. That could be bad news for his cardio but he has finished his last eight opponents in the first two rounds. Rosholt has great wrestling and is a good striker but he’s been knocked out twice in the last three years. If Johnson can catch him it could be lights out. With that being said Johnson maybe an underdog worth looking twice at in Nashville at UFC Fight Night 73.

Good luck!
