A new bout has been added to the UFC Fight Night 79 fight card as former lightweight contender Diego Sanchez (25-7) makes the drop down to featherweight to face former title challenger Ricardo Lamas (15-4). The event will take place Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on Nov. 21.

UFC officials announced the bout earlier today.

UFC Fight Night 79 will feature a headline bout between welterweights Matt Brown and Kelvin Gastelum. The main card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following the prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Diego Sanchez, who is going to be fighting in his fourth different UFC weight class, will no doubt be looking to follow his controversial UFC Fight Night 42 decision win over Ross Pearson with a strong performance against Lamas. Prior to the win over Pearson, Sanchez dropped back to back losses against Gilbert Melendez and Myles Dury, a run of bad form he will not be looking to repeat.

His opponent, Ricardo Lamas, will want to bounce back from his UFC Fight Night 63 loss against Chad Mendes and put a notch back in the win column. Before the loss to Mendes, Lamas had built up a two-fight winning streak with wins over Hacran Dias and Dennis Bermudez.
