I saw the Avengers: Age of Ultron twice in a week with enough time that I could review it honestly. We are real people, real fans of things and we do not pretend to be hipster reviewers like 90% of what makes up the internet. We are not judgmental douchebags like CinemaSins who despise Marvel successes. We are not one of the jaded, angst ridden movie critics who are bombarded by too many bad movies and disappointments. Most are wannabe directors or actors. Those who can’t do either – review. We spend our hard earned money on just anything and when we do we make it count just like our readers who thankfully spend time on this site and reading my articles. I love you guys for it.

So, here at PMN we get to the point so you can spend more time doing and not reading. We have five categories we base our reviews on and we try not to review things based on like or dislike of a particular brand, franchise, director, actor, or studio. With that said let’s dive in.

ACTION

Joss Whedon has brought us insanely exciting action in the past and Age of Ultron does not disappoint. The Avengers and their abilities have evolved to the point that they finally rival their comic book counterparts. You get to see them in their elements and as a force that can protect the earth, truly guard it.

RATING: 5 out of 5

DRAMA

The main drama revolves around Tony Stark and Bruce Banner’s decision to use an unknown artificial source perhaps more powerful than Jarvis himself. It backfires and all hell break loose when Ultron starts unleashing an army of robots and decides he needs humans to evolve..or become extinct. Hawkeye’s life becomes a focus as does BlackWidow’s past. Add that to the drama of the Maximoff twins and it is compelling. Still, they could have done more with Ultron’s hate for Tony Stark’

SPECIAL EFFECTS

Age of Ultron does an amazing job of bringing Ultron and his army to life. It is so real you no longer question whether what is going on is real or not. In fact at some points the robots can look more legit than the actual cast. It’s full of jaw dropping moments that can overwhelm you and drain your visual stamina. Still, they are amazing.

RATING: 5 out of 5

SOUND

They nailed it. Everything seems real and sounds real. Ultron’s voice is amazing and James Spader was absolutely the right choice. The Iron Man sounds and Hulk’s roars stand out as audio perfection. There is never a moment where you say that the music or sound was out of place.

RATING: 5 out of 5

OVERALL

This film is a testament to how far things have come in terms of special effects and the ability to use them to create actual realities on the big screen. It has a surprise death, real emotion, and a true villain. It takes the Avengers in to a direction and state that sees their roster altered forever in the Marvel Universe.

RATING: 5 out of 5

FINAL SCORE: 24 out of 25

Do yourself a favor and go see this film. It is definitely worth the ticket price.
