UFC officials have announced another fight for the upcoming UFC 189 PPV event that’s set for July 11. A welterweight bout between Brandon Thatch and John Howard has been agreed upon and will be added to an increasingly stacked fight card. The event will be headlined by the highly anticipated showdown between UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor. Also, the co-main event will feature the UFC welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and challenger Rory MacDonald.

The event will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Thatch (11-2) is coming off a fourth round submission loss to former UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson in February. Henderson moved up in weight to take the fight on short notice and ended Thatch’s two fight winning streak. However, Thatch had not fought in well over a year after battling injuries.

Howard (22-11) is coming off a TKO loss to Lorenz Larkin in his last outing in January. It was the third consecutive loss for Howard after winning back-to-back bouts in this UFC return in 2013. Howard has a career UFC record of (6-6) and likely will be fighting for his roster spot in this bout.

The UFC 189 fight card this far is below:

  • Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor
  • Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald
  • Dennis Bermudez vs. Jeremy Stephens
  • Gunnar Nelson vs. John Hathaway
  • Brandon Thatch vs. John Howard
