derp karate

Karate and martial arts in general have had some hilarious definition of what it thought it meant to be a bad ass. Modern science has confirmed that traditional martial arts use a sort of abusive conditioning technique with their students. It creates a culture of ‘attack me like this so I can do a bunch of choreographed street garbage’ that is then passed on to the hungry young students who want to beat up on their own students one day. Oh yeah, and a whole lot of spinning and yelling.

I have seen many martial arts demonstrations over the years and hell I have been in some. They are almost always corny, cheesy, and involve techniques that would get your butt kicked if you tried them in a fight. Let’s face it – traditional kar-ah-tay type martial arts have been exposed as almost uselessĀ and good for only sparring/brawling with someone of a similar style or maybe another traditional martial artist. Gone are the days when bad boys were the guys spin kicking across the floor. Now it’s about grappling and punching people in the face. Period.

In this great moment of karate derp we have a Grandmaster Kwon who is every bad guy ever in any 80’s martial arts film. He screams like a madman, breaks stuff, performs choreographed B movie “realistic” self defense moves in a suit, and sticks stuff under his skin. Is he good at what he does? We guess. I have no clue what Hwardo is. It seems like another “Some dude fu” to me.

Any way, here’s what his YouTube channel says about this epicly bad video:
Hwardo is a combination martial art using the best of TaeKwonDo, HapKiDo, KickBoxing, Karate, KungFu, Judo, and Weapons. World Champion 10th Degree Black Belt Grand Master HY Kwon and his sons Masters Kwon display proper Hwardo techniques that can be used to further your study in martial arts. See demonstrations of kicking, punching, sword techniques as well as demonstrations of concentration such as steel pins through arms and ability to balance on bed of nails while taking on physical challenges. Grandmaster displays breaking cinder blocks, training by punching and kicking metal bags, hammering nails with fists, and many other mixed martial arts techniques which will help develop a strong mind and body while learning the art of self defense. Grandmaster Kwon personally teaches his studios from his location in Chantilly, VA. For more information check outĀ http://www.grandmasterhykwon.com.

As always we apologize in advance and enjoy!
