Kalindra Faria (15-3-1) is a 28-year-old Brazilian strawweight with an impressive resume, including a submission win over Carina Damm  (22-11) last year. Faria is currently riding an 11-fight winning streak, most recently having won a unanimous decision over Sanja Sucevic (4-3) at XFCi 4 in April. She also fought for XFCi the month prior, scoring a unanimous decision win over Aline Serio (9-5).

On Nov. 15th, World Series of Fighting (WSOF) has Faria scheduled to face 115-pound women’s champ Jessica Aguilar (18-4) for her title at WSOF 15 in Tampa, Fla. The problem is, XFC says she is still under contract with them and is filing suit.

XFC released the following statement on Friday:

XFC has an exclusive contract with Ms. Kalindra Faria, which XFC provided to WSOF. Not withstanding the clear terms of Ms. Faria’s exclusive contract with XFC, WSOF has made it clear it intends to proceed with Ms. Faria’s bout planned for this weekend.

There is no question that XFC has a valid contract with Ms. Faria and that her fighting in a WSOF match this weekend violates XFC’s rights under that contract.

As a consequence of WSOF’s actions, XFC is filing suit against WSOF today in the United States District Court in Tampa. XFC is seeking to enforce its rights to the fullest extent of the law.

With WSOF going up against the UFC tomorrow night for viewers, losing one of it’s three title fights scheduled for the NBC Sports Network broadcast is not what they want to hear.
