Anderson Silva has returned to the media spotlight after two back to back losses to 185 pound champion Chris Weidman. Chris ushered in a new era and knocked Silva out to win the belt before outclassing him in the rematch up until Silva broke his leg. Weidman beat Lyoto Machida next showing the world he is a legitimate champion and silencing some of the critics. His impending match with a trash talking post-TRT using Vitor Belfort has been the main story for MMA news sites on more than once occasion. Most experts believe that without the benefits of TRT we will see the Belfort that got crushed by Anderson Silva the first time around.

Anderson opened up about who he is rooting for in the Weidman vs. Belfort fight and it seems like it could be a mixture of sour grapes and Brazilian pride. Silva is backing Belfort against the man who ended the championship reign of the greatest MMA fighter of all time.

My personal opinion about Vitor, of all the athletes in the 185-pound weight class … he is the most complete athlete. He’s more explosive, he’s got better boxing, good jiu-jitsu, good wrestling. Chris Weidman, he’s a new athlete. He’s a new generation. He’s a young athlete and he’s coming out very strong. It’s a fight that everyone is gonna want to see. With all my energy I’m going to be rooting for Vitor to win.

It will be interesting to see how he does in his return with bout with Nick Diaz in a few months. Will Diaz shock the world or will Silva do what most think will happen and finish the incredibly resilient fighter Chris Leben style?
