UFC officials have announced a middleweight bout for the upcoming UFC 178 PPV event that’s set for September 27th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero have verbally agreed to scrap on the event that will be headlined by the UFC light heavyweight title rematch between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson.

Kennedy (18-4) is coming off the biggest win of his career, a unanimous decision victory over top 10 middleweight Michael Bisping. The two fighters had gone back and forth over the past year or so trading verbal jabs, but it was the pressure and grappling prowess of Kennedy that took him to victory. He has won four consecutive fights dating back to 2013 with three of those wins taking place in the UFC. He’ll need all that and more when he takes on Romero, an explosive Olympic silver medalist in wrestling with KO power.

Romero( 8-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Brad Tavaras in his last outing, and has won all four of his fights in the UFC with three of them coming by way of TKO/KO. The winner of this bout will certainly be on the short path to challenge UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman.
