UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey gave her take on a potential fight with Cris Cyborg during a media luncheon Friday in Los Angeles, and questioned why if Cyborg was really concerned about having kids, then why did she take steroids.
Rousey’s words:
“I wanted to fight her, but the thing is, she’s the one that ran away. They announced out of competition drug testing in the UFC and within 24 hours she asked for her release. Then she started saying that ‘Oh I won’t be able to make 135, because then it will be much harder for me to have kids. Then I was I like ‘you didn’t give a flying f— about how having steroids would have affected her kids, let’s put an over/under on your miscarriages now just based on that. I would never lose sleep at night over Cris Cyborg in any situation. If she wants to come and get her ass beat, she knows where I’m at. She knows where I’m at. But she’s not making any effort to get there.”
With Invicta FC signing a deal with the UFC to air on Fight Pass, the probability of Cyborg one day fighting inside the Octagon seems to have drawn a bit closer. However, there’s still the issue of her coming down to 135 pounds to meet Rousey.
Let’s face it, Rousey doesn’t NEED that fight even though everyone it seems wants to see it. Cyborg definitely needs it a lot more than Rousey does, so if it’s ever going to happen she will have to make the necessary changes to come to Rousey.
