rampage vs king moSOUTHAVEN, Miss. — ProMMAnow.com is on the scene at Landers Center for tonight’s Bellator 120 Pay-Per-View event. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and King Mo will square off in the Light Heavyweight tournament final in the main event, while Michael Chandler and Will Brooks will battle for the Interim Lightweight title in the co-main event. Also, Tito Ortiz makes his Bellator debut at 205-pounds against Middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko, who is moving up in weight for this bout.

Round 1 – Alright, time to kick this party off. Touch gloves. Leg kick from Richman. Again. Leg kick inside from Yamauchi goes high and Richman is down from the shot to the groin. It was hard and loud!! Ouch! Time out please. … Back at it. Leg kick Richman. Another. Nice hard body kick from Yamauchi. Leg kick Richman. Super hard body kick from Yamauchi echoes through the arena. He presses Richman to the cage. Elbow from Yamauchi. Richman turns him to the cage. Knees the thighs. They reset in the center. Leg kick Richman. Left from Richman. Yamauchi ducks into a head kick but his okay. Body kick Richman. Left to the body, again. Clinch against the cage. Richman picks him up for a takedown but lets him right up. Leg kick Yamauchi. One two from Richman. He blocks a high kick. Leg kick Richman. Big punch combo from Yamauchi stuns Richman. Leg kick Richman, he then initiates the clinch, pushes Yamauchi to the cage. Body kick from Yamauchi on the break. PMN sees it 10-9 Yamauchi.

Round 2 – Leg kick Richman. Leg kick Yamauchi. Nice punch combo hurts Richman, but he takes it and clinches up with Yamauchi. Turns him to the cage. Yamauchi scores the takedown and postures up with punches. Richman uses the cage to get up. Yamauchi backs out. Leg kick Richman, Yamauchi fires back with punches. Richman with the one two. Richman bleeding from his nose. Left hook from Richman. He throws a kick and slips to the mat but gets up quickly before Yamauchi can pounce. Leg kick Richman. Yamauchi shoots, stuffed. Body kick Richman. Left hook from Yamauchi, then a knee to the body. Clinch, Richman presses him to the cage, picks up a single but can’t get him down. Front kick Yamauchi. Again, to the body. Closer round… could go either way. PMN sees it 10-9 for Richman.

Round 3 – Touch gloves. Left from Richman, then a right. He’s pressing. Yamauchi shoots, Richman goes for a guillotine and Yamauchi pulls guard to escape. Closed guard. Heel strike to the kidney from Yamauchi. Closed guard, trying to slip out from under Richman but he’s staying heavy. Mission control from Yamauchi briefly, Richman lands a couple punches to the face. Yamauchi throws his legs up looking for armbar or triangle, but eats a couple shots. Yamauchi trying to underhook the right leg of Richman but is unable. Richman’s corner wants him to stand up but he stays in guard and lands a couple elbows before the ref stands them up. Richman stalking, lands a body kick. Flashing a jab, Yamauchi lands two nice body kicks before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 and the fight 29-28 for Richman.

145 lbs: Shahbulat Shamhalaev vs. Fabricio Guerreiro

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Leg kick from Shamhalaev. Body kick follows. Nice overhand right from Guerreiro connects. Checks a leg kick. Then blocks a high kick. Front kick from Shamhalaev. Guerreiro looks for same up high. Misses. Clinch, goes to the ground with Shamhalaev deep on a single. Guerreiro softening him up with hammerfists. Shamhalaev on top in half guard but Guerreiro sweeps him with a kimura and then forces the tap. Beautiful finish from a move we don’t see end fights that much anymore.

158 lbs: Nate Jolly vs. Marcin Held

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Jolly gets tagged but he recovers and tags Held, it’s a slugfest right out the gate. Held pushes Jolly to the cage, pressing on him. Gets a single leg takedown and takes Jolly’s back with both hooks in. Not where the Tennessee boy wants to be. Jolly gets to his knees but Held still riding him, softening him up with punches, cranks on the neck. Held now in mount and locks up a choke before Jolly gets to his knees again and Held is still on him with hooks in. Jolly is able to escape to top position and drops some punches before Held locks up an armbar and forces the tap. Jolly hugs him but he’s pissed at himself.

265 lbs: Cheick Kongo vs. Eric Smith

Round 1 – If this were a bodybuilding contest Eric Smith just lost. But so would most guys against Kongo. DDP just showed up in front of me. Nice. Right hand from Smith backs Kongo up. Front kick from Kongo. Big John is the ref. Smith stalking. Kongo’s back to the cage, he throws a front kick. Smith head hunting. One two from Kongo, Smith pushes him to the cage. He backs out. Kongo flashing a jab but gets tagged with a big right. Kongo fires back with a punch combo that forces Smith to shoot in. Kongo turns him to the cage, Smith reverses it with undercooks. Smith with a body lock picks Kongo up for the slam, now he’s on top in half guard, not doing much here though. He postures up and lands some right hands as Kongo covers up and slowly stands. Body kick from Kongo, another and another. Another. Another. Another. They trade right hands. Thai plum and knees from Kongo followed by big punches and elbows. This is the OLD Kongo that excited folks. Dirty boxing and uppercuts from Kongo before the bell. Great action! PMN sees it 10-9 from Kongo.

Round 2 – Body kick from Kongo. Smith lands a one two that forces Kongo to retreat. He closes in and Kongo clinches up and turns him to the cage. Couple knees to the thighs from Kongo before he drops levels for the double leg takedown. Smith gets to his knees, Kongo riding him, holding an ankle and landing a few punches. Smith fighting to get to his feet. Knee from Kongo to the body. Kind of a stalemate as Smith covers up and Kongo punches his arms. Smith is up and eats a knee. Kongo pressing on him, landing punches, big right hands, he’s hurt and Big John stops the battering.

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Rainey swings first, misses. Page being elusive, lands a stiff jab on the chin, then a front kick and another jab. Uppercut and a punch combo and tosses Rainey to the mat. Page not even looking at Rainey, toying with him. Lands a big hook on the chin. One two from Page. He spins, decides not to kick. Rainey presses him to the cage. Page turns around and backs out. Page showboating and the crowd boos him. He’s very quick and Rainey can’t find him with punches. Page lands a couple shots, blocks a punch with his palm, then lands a counter. What did I just see? WTF? Rainey gets in on a single but ends up on bottom, right back up, presses Page to the cage. Page gets a body lock and turns him around and backs out, lands a flying knee, spinning backlist is blocked. Rainey can’t find him again with his punch. Jab from Page, then lands a clean right hand that drops Rainey and this fight is OVER. HOLY SHIT… Bellator has a new star in in Michael Page… keep an eye on this guy, mark my words. Never seen anyone do that to Rainey… or anyone else for that matter. Page’s nickname should be “the Ghost”. (Check the KO GIF)

265 lbs: Blagoi Ivanov vs. Alexander Volkov

Round 1 – Volkov has a huge height advantage. Looks like Ivan Drago. Clinch, short right and knee from Volkov. Ivanov looks to pick him up with a single but Volkov defends. Ivanov pressing him to the cage. Knee from Volkov. Ivanov drops levels but takes another knee to the body. And another. Couple more knees. And more. Ivanov throws one back. They exchange a couple punches in the clinch. Another knee from Volkov. Ivanov tags him with a right hook, then back to the clinch. Short right left from Volkov and a knee. Dirty boxing from both guys. Volkov circles to the center and they square up. They exchange punches, Volkov’s reach proving to be troublesome. Body kick from Volkov. Front kick. Ivanov lands an overhand right. PMN sees it 10-9 Volkov.

Round 2 – Ivanov moves in, takes a front kick and a right hand from Volkov. Front kick and more punches from Volkov. Ivanov walks through them and presses him to the cage. Gets a body lock and finally gets a takedown but Volkov ends up taking his back, locks in the choke and forces the tap out. Good showing by Volkov.

205 lbs: Tito Ortiz vs. Alexander Shlemenko

Round 1 – Tito looks fired up. Got a huge ovation of course. Shlemenko got booed. Tito much larger. Tito Ortiz in his first non UFC fight since 1998…. wow. Tito feinting, wanting the shot. Throws a right and a high kick, his shot is stuffed. Body kick from Shlemenko. Tito covers up on a one two. He blocks a kick. Blocks a spinning backfist then presses Shlemenko to the cage. Body shot from Tito, he gets the takedown. Shlemenko on his knees. Tito riding him, gets Shlemenko on his back, locks up an arm triangle. Shlemenko goes to SLEEP and Tito is digging his grave. AMAZING! This crowd is going nuts. (see the GIF)

Tito gave a great post-fight speech about how the UFC tried to erase him from the history books, but the fans will remember him forever. I literally had chills and feel privileged to have witnessed this win from one of the sport’s legends.

155 lbs: Michael Chandler vs. Will Brooks

Round 1 – Not many giving Brooks a chance here. Chandler may be overlooking him. No touch of gloves. Leg kick from Brooks. Chandler gets a takedown easily. Inside Brooks’ full guard. Brooks with half butterfly guard trying to sweep. Chandler throwing small punches. Brooks gets to his feet. Nice body kick from Brooks. Nice knee to the body from Brooks, flashing a jab now. Chandler backs him up, shoots, stuffed. Chandler presses him to the cage. Drops levels and picks him up for the slam. Brooks’ back to the cage. Chandler puts him flat on the mat now, inside full guard. Body shots from Chandler. Tito just walked in in a suit cage side, girl in tow. Fans cheering. DDP gets up to shake his hand. Oh yeah back to the fight… Chandler still on top inside guard, nothing much happening. PMN sees it 10-9 Chandler.

Round 2 – Leg kick Brooks. Chandler throws an uppercut then shoots in, presses Brooks against the cage. Brooks stops the takedown and lands a knee to the body. Chandler with a nice right. He drives in for the double leg and puts Brooks on his butt against the cage. DDP telling Brooks to “wall walk” and “get out of there”. He doesn’t listen. Chandler puts him on his back and goes back to the ground and pound attack. Brooks uses a half butterfly and almost gets the sweep. Chandler on top in half guard. Brooks gets his back to the cage again, gets to his feet and puts Chandler on his back. Chadler gets to his knees and Brooks takes his back with both hooks in. Chandler spins and now has top control inside guard. Chandler postures up with punches before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Chandler.

Round 3 – Left counter from Brooks. Chandler bouncing around the cage, leaps in with a right. He shoots in as Brooks sprawls, they both throw knees on the way up. Chandler pushes him to the cage, tries to throw him but slips and Brooks has a body lock. They break to the center. Brooks gets Chandler to the ground and looking to take his back, both hooks in now, landing some punches. Brooks with the body triangle. He flattens Chandler out and is landing punches. Now in full mount on Chandler. Landing short elbows and punches. He postures up with shots. Chandler gets up but pays for it with punches and a big knee. Brooks shoots, Chandler sprawls but takes another big knee to the body. Chandler turtles as Brooks rides him and lands some punches. Chandler up, but eats and elbow and a head kick. Chandler bleeding as Brooks picks him apart and gets another takedown, takes his back, body triangle locked on again. Brooks landing some punches from the back. PMN sees it 10-8 Brooks.

Round 4 – Big body kick from Brooks. Just misses a head kick. Jab from Brooks, sprawls and avoids Chandler’s shot. Nice right hook from Brooks. Chandler lands a nice left hook of his own, but Brooks scores a big takedown and has Chandler’s back again. Chandler spins and now has top control inside the full guard. DDP cheering for Will Brooks. Chandler working some mild ground and pound. Brooks gets his feet on the cage, trying to make something happen. Chandler seems content to ride this out, but thank God the ref stands it up. Head kick from Brooks. Chandler wings a right then shoots in, stuffed, takes a knee. Chandler puts his hand on the ground as the crowd cheers for a knee… guess what… he throws the knee. It’s illegal and now a timeout is called for Chandler to recover…. Seems okay…. and stands up. …. We wait…. Here we go. Touch gloves. Counter left from Brooks. Big body kick from Chandler. Head kick from Brooks. Chandler shoots, Brooks jumps on his back AGAIN, both hooks in. Chandler gets one arm around the neck. PMN sees it 10-9 Brooks.

Round 5 – Brooks is smiling before the bell. Chandler is not. Right hand, left high kick from Brooks. Chandler shoots, stuffed. Brooks pushes him off. Jab from Brooks. Trying to counter. Chandler lifts up a single. Brooks pops him with a right. Chandler switches to a double against the cage. Gets Brooks down very briefly. Back up and Brooks pops him with a left and right. Chandler with a sloppy shot that Brooks avoids. Lands a couple knees to the body. Chandler comes back swinging but Brooks gets a big suplex on him. Chandler ends up with top control, Brooks back to the cage. Chandler needs to finish this to win in my book. Brooks gets to his feet. Chandler still looking for the double against the cage. Brooks flops his weigh on him, then gets free. Chandler chases him down and lands a big right hand and Brooks goes down. Chandler locks on an arm triangle looking for the finish. Brooks defending correctly though and is safe. Chandler in full mount. Amazing!! PMN sees the final round 10-9 for Chandler but the fight a draw due to the 10-8 third round for Brooks.

205 lbs: Quinton Jackson vs. King Mo

Round 1 – No glove touch here. Rampage takes the center and Mo shoots immediately and puts Rampage on his back easily. Inside Rampage’s full guard. Rampage trying to hold him close, Mo posturing up with a few punches, moves to side mount. Page gets up now, clinched. Knee from Mo. Underhooks from Page preventing the takedown. Mo goes for a deep double though and puts him back down with his back to the cage. Mo tries to hold him down, and scoops his legs out as he gets up. Page gets to one knee and Mo lands some knees to the body and thigh. Mo scoops his legs out again, keeping Rampage on his butt. The hometown crowd boos. Rampage gives up his back, Mo lands some knees to the thighs. Page is up against the cage. Mo lands a knee, slips for a second. they square up. Left hook from Mo. Jab from Page. Mo with hands low, misses a right, Rampage throws a counter. Jab from Mo. Rampage with a left hook. Mo throws a sloppy left hook and slips. Body kick from Mo. PMN sees it 10-9 for Mo.

Round 2 – Jeff Mayweather in Mo’s corner. Rampage stalking. Body kick from Mo, a little low. Left hook from Rampage as Mo tries to shoot, stuffed. Mo’s hands down. Rampage lands a left and right, not even that solid and Mo wobbles. Mo shoots, Rampage throws him off and lands a couple more shots. Jab from Mo. Looks like Mo’s eye is swollen. Mo’s hands way low. He shoots, presses Rampage to the cage. Rampage defends the takedown. Mo going deep on a single. Rampage with an uppercut. Mo retreats as Rampage swings heat. Mo gets a body lock from the back, knees his thighs. Big John watching close. They reset in the center. Mo ducks a combo. Lands a left right hook, misses a flying knee. They trade jabs and Mo puts Rampage on his butt, back to the cage. Rampage gets to his knees and feet. He lands a right hook and an uppercut before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 for Mo.

Round 3 -Pretty fun fight. Both guys look in good shape. Body kick from Mo. Mo shoots, pays for it with an uppercut and a right.  He’s okay though. They reset, he shoots again, stuffed. Knee from Mo. He presses Rampage against the cage. Goes for a single, drops down for the double and puts Rampage on his back against the cage. The arena fills with boos. Mo can’t get anything going from the top. Rampage gives up his back. Now gets to his feet. Mo hanging on his back, drops down but can’t get it. Rampage tags him on the break. Mo shoots in pressing him to the cage again after avoiding a couple punches. Knee to the body from Rampage. Under a minute to go now. Cheers of Rampage fill this place. Ref separates them. Rampage head hunting now. Mo ducks a big hook. Rampage lands an uppercut, Mo lands a jab. Good head movement from Mo at the end. PMN sees it a clean sweep 10-9 and 30-27 for Mo.
