Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin has announced that the Asian based ONE FC promotion has offered him a Vice President position within the promotion. Franklin made the announcement on his Facebook page:

I have been in talks with ONE FC about taking a job with them. They offered me a position as VP. I will be heading to ONE FC headquarters in the next few weeks to work out the details. I met with Dana and Lorenzo at the end of last year and they gave me their blessing. I will keep you posted.

It’s great to see that the UFC brass has given him the OK, as that has not been common place in other scenarios.  All you have to do is look at the Randy Couture situation when he got involved with Bellator. The difference is that the UFC probably does not view ONE FC as a direct competitor since they have not hosted any domestic shows. Furthermore, ONE FC could help the UFC lay inroads into different countries abroad.

Franklin hasn’t fought November 2012, suffering a first round KO loss at the hands of Cung Le. Franklin was offered an upcoming fight on the UFC Fight Night 40 in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, but turned down the opportunity.
