Ross Pearson was set to rematch Melvin Guillard at UFC Fight Night 37 after their last bout ended in a no contest due to a knee that was deemed illegal by Melvin Guillard. UFC lightweight Michael Johnson (14-8) has agreed to step in and face “The Young Assassin” at the UFC Fight Night 37 event on March 8 in London, England.
Johnson has won back-to-back fights, including a devastating KO win over the always tough Gleison Tibau in his last outing at UFC 168 in December. Johnson, a TUF 12 alum, is (6-4) in the UFC with three of those wins coming via TKO/KO.
Guillard (31-12-2, 2NC) is coming off the no contest, but did earn a much needed KO win in the outing before that against Mac Danzig. Guillard, a TUF 2 alum, usually likes to keep his fights on the feet and use his striking which is also a preference of Johnson, so this fight should be nothing but fireworks.
