Round 1 – Touch gloves. Smolka misses a high kick. Body/head punch combo from Alp grazes Smolka. Alp blocks a high kick. Nice uppercut from Alp grazes Smolka. Alp puts Smolka on his back, inside guard. Smolka trying to set up an armbar, but Alp passes to side control. Smolka gets to his feet, uses a Thai plum to land knees. Alp landing body shots. Smolka with a left hook that almost drops Alp. Alp fires back and almost drops Smolka. Right hand from Smolka. Takedown from Alp after eating a shot or two. Smolks escapes to his feet, lands a couple knees from the plum but Alp puts him back down. Alp tries to pass but Smolka gets to his feet, goes for a flying knee, misses. Left jab from Alp. Body kick from Smolka. Left hook, body kick lands for Smolka. Nice right. Again. PMN sees it 10-9 Smolka.

Round 2 – Left hook from Alp. Smolka fires back but gets tagged again. Body kick and knees from Smolka. Body shot from Alp. High kick from Smolka. Left hook to the body from Alp, then a right upstairs. Alp with the takedown. Smolka gets up quickly but takes a knee for his trouble. Nice Thai plum and knees from Smolka. Body lock from Alp as he looks for the takedown, pushes Smolka to the cage. Thai plum and knees from Smolka, right elbow. Alp slowing down significantly after taking those knees. Alp still is able to get a trip takedown with under a minute left in the round. Smolka grabs Alp’s leg between his own leg and goes for a kneebar. Alp escapes and they are back up. Alp with a body lock takedown before the bell but I still have the round for Smolka 10-9.

Round 3 – Alp gets a takedown early. Smolka scrambles to his feet right away. Elbow from Alp. Nice left hook from Smolka. Left from Alp. Smolka with a left. Short left again. Body kick, leg kick exchange. Left from Alp. Body kick from Smolka. Left right from Smolka. Nice punch combos from Smolka landing, keeping the pressure on backing Alp up. Right from Alp. Big jab from Smolka. Alp shoots in but Smolka counters it. Big uppercut and a right from Smolka. Nice jab and a right follow. Smolka teeing off. Alp with the takedown but Smolka counters, right back up but Alp takes him back down, gets on Smolka’s back but he shakes Alp off and is now on top in half guard, locks up a D’arce choke with a minute to go. Alp survives. Smolka gets full mount though and rains down punches as the final seconds tick away. Ref Herb Dean lets it play out but Alp had no answer. Amazing UFC debut from Hawaii’s Louis Smolka. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Smolka. Keep an eye on this guy.

185 lbs: Trevor Smith vs. Brian Houston

Round 1 – Leg kick from Smith, again. Right hand from Houston. Smith shoots in and gets the takedown. Houston gets up right away but Smith drags him back down with a front headlock. Houston back to his feet, Smith with a knee to the noggin that grazes Houston. Houston gets his own takedown but Smith gets up fairly quick. Houston presses him to the cage. They exchange knees before separating. They trade body kicks. Jab from Houston, showing some nice footwork. Right hook to the body. Leg kick Smith. Body jab. Right from Houston but Smith shoots in for the takedown, lands on top in half guard. Smith looking for an arm triangle. Houston gets free. Smith dropping some short elbows and then takes full mount with 20 seconds left in the round. Smith moves to side mount, then north-south before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Smith.

Round 2 – Left hook Houston. Overhand right Smith. Left jab Houston. Inside leg kick Smith. Outside leg kick Houston. Smith returns same. They trade left hooks and Smith is opened up with a cut on his forehead. They clinch up and exchange knees. Leg kick Smith, he shoots for the takedown but Houston escapes. Smith shoots again. Sprawl from Houston, he escapes again. Smith misses an overhand right. Left jab from Houston. Left from Smith, then a right. He shoots in, Houston escapes again. Nice leg kick from Smith. Round 1 – Leg kick Silverio. Flagg pressing forward. Left hook from Silverio. Big leg kick, right hand from Flagg. Silverio shoots in and gets a takedown on Flagg. Flagg back up, Silverio presses him to the cage where they wrestle in the clinch. Flagg backs him up with a combo. Silverio lands a big left hook that drops Flagg hard. Silverio takes top control in half guard, pinned agains the cage. Flagg fighting to get up with his back to the cage. Silverio softening him up with punches, looking for Flagg’s back. Silverio landing big left hands from the top. Flagg gets to his feet as Silverio hangs on. Now they clinch up against the cage, big right from Silverio, then a knee. Jab. Flagg fires back but eats a right. Clinch against the cage as the round ends Silverio lands a right and a high kick. PMN sees it 10-9 for Silverio.

Round 2 – Front kick from Silverio. Right hook from Flagg. Silverio with a bodylock takedown, now on top in half guard and landing ground and pound. Silverio looking for the mount. Flagg gets to his knees but eats an apparent illegal knee. Time is called as Flagg is given time to recover. Ref takes a point from Silverio even though the replay shows it looks like it lands on the chest. Silverio looking to turn it on here. Big left right, and an elbow from Silverio. Hits a single leg takedown and now has top control in half guard. 90 seconds to go. Silverio working ground and pound as the round winds down. Flagg manages to get up while eating punches. PMN sees it 9-9 after the point deduction.

Round 3 – High kick attempt from Silverio. Body kick. Clinch against the cage, elbow and knee from Silverio before hitting a takedown. Flagg gives up his back. Silverio has both hooks in and looking for the choke. Silverio landing punches to soften Flagg up. Silverio stretches him out briefly, landing some big shots. Flagg rolls to his back. Silverio on top in half guard, working ground and pound. Full mount now from Silverio. Silverio takes the back again looking for the choke, both hooks in. 22 seconds to go. Silverio squeezing the neck but Flagg survives. PMN sees it 10-9 and 29-27 for Silverio.

155 lbs: Ramsey Nijem vs. Justin Edwards

Round 1 – Nijem comes out swinging, landing the first punches. Leg kick follows. Front kick. Edwards ties him up, lands a right. Nijem backs out, lands a leg kick. Front kick. Head kick from Nijem mostly blocked. Edwards fires back. Jab from Nijem. Body kick. Left hook from Edwards, leg kick inside. Front kick Nijem. Edwards tries to take his head off. But Nijem is able to evade. Jumping knee attempt from Nijem. Leg kick scores. Counter left hook from Edwards lands. Nice jab from Nijem. Inside leg kick Nijem. Spin kick from Nijem. Edwards lands a nice punch and Nijem fires back for the best exchange of the round. Uppercut Nijem. Spin kick Edwards. Edwards ducks a spin kick and gets a takedown. Nijem goes for a leg and Edwards goes with same. Close round. PMN sees it 10-9 Nijem.

Round 2 – Edwards’ coach Gurgel tells Edwards “left hook, right hand all day long — you don’t have to kick”. Nijem goes for a takedown but gets caught in an arm-in guillotine. Very tight. Edwards finally lets it go. Nijem inside full guard now landing body shots. Edwards goes for an armbar. Nijem escapes. Both guys back to the feet where they square up. Right from Nijem. Left hook. Front kick. Nijem gets a trip takedown, as Edwards gets up he eats some hard punches and kicks in the process and is wobbled. Nijem takes Edwards’ back and is looking for the choke. Body triangle by Nijem. Edwards tries to flip/roll out but it didn’t work. 30 seconds left and Nijem is searching for the neck. Edwards defending well. Big round for NIjem 10-9.

Round 3 – Big left hook from Nijem stuns Edwards. Clinch, NIjem blocks a high kick. Spin kick attempt from Edwards. Nijem gets a double leg takedown fairly easy. Inside full guard, Nijem drops an elbow. He postures up, Edwards gets to a knee then feet. Edwards bloodied up around his left eye. Right counter from Edwards. Right from Nijem. Left hook Edwards. Half the round gone. Nijem with an uppercut. Again. Edwards counters with a punch, then lands a nice spin kick. Nijem walks through it. Nijem with a takedown. Edwards gets up and they exchange punches. Left from Edwards. Nijem fires back. Leg kick. He shoots for a single and Edwards jumps on a guillotine attempt, ends up on bottom. He goes for a calf slicer with 10 seconds to go. That’s it. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Nijem.

145 lbs: Cole Miller vs. Sam Sicilia

Round 1 – Round 1 – Miller with a huge reach advantage. Inside leg kick, front kick from Miller. Leg kick Sicilia. Sicilia winging hooks. Inside leg kick Miller, as he stays on the outside. Miller working a jab. Leg kick Sicilia. Front kick Miller. Miller circling on the outside, avoiding the bombs of Sicilia. Still working the jab. Miller lands a nice right. Leg kick Miller. High kick, blocked. Right to the body from Sicilia backs Miller up. Right from Miller. Inside leg kick, jab. Sicilia throws heat but Miller is able to avoid. Big leg kick from Miller. PMN sees it 10-9 Miller.

Round 2 – Front kick and jabs from Miller, lands a big one two that rocks Sicilia. Sicilia with a big mouse under his left eye. Sicilia fires back but Miller defends. Sicilia with a big right to the body. Miller hurts Sicilia with a big right hand, he goes down to a knee. Miller jumps on for a guillotine from half guard, lets it go and takes side mount. Sicilia gives up his back, Miller gladly takes it and sinks in a rear-naked choke and gets the tap out. Miller looking really good.

125 lbs: John Moraga vs. Dustin Ortiz

Round 1 – Dustin takes the center, lands a right hand after switching stances. Moraga shoots, stuffed. Leg kick Ortiz. Ortiz shoots, gets a body lock, tries to drag Moraga down, presses him to the cage. Ortiz with some knees to the thighs. Finally gets Moraga on his back, now on top inside half guard. Moraga gets full guard. Ortiz with an elbow. Body shots. Moraga trying to use the cage to get up but Ortiz holding him down. Ortiz in half guard now continuing with the ground and pound. One minute to go. Ortiz postures up with a couple punches, lays it on heavy as time runs down. PMN has it 10-9 Ortiz.

Round 2 – Ortiz looking very confident. Leg kick Moraga. Leg kick Ortiz. Uppercut from Moraga. Big leg kick. Big leg kick Ortiz. Right hook. Big leg kick and a hook from Moraga. Ortiz shoots, Moraga presses him to the cage. Ortiz slips as he is backing up after Moraga feints. Moraga jumps on him, landing some elbows to the side of the head, takes Ortiz’s back and locks up a RNC. Ortiz is able to fight out of it at least for now. Ortiz gets to top control and side mount now with 90 seconds to go. Moraga gets to his knees and Ortiz grabs his neck, tries to take the back as Moraga gets up. Moraga lands a right hand, left hook, Ortiz eats it. Ortiz shoots, stuffed, but Ortiz is able to jump on his back. Moraga tries to roll out but Ortiz stays on him. Great round of action. PMN sees it 10-9 Moraga.

Round 3 – They trade kicks. Ortiz shoots, stuffed. Moraga and Ortiz back up. Right from Moraga. Ortiz ducks a head kick. Nice jab, hook from Moraga. Right from Ortiz. Leg kick Moraga. Leg kick Moraga. Moraga’s speed is making the difference in the striking now. Moraga shoots, stuffed. Ortiz catches a body kick, lands a counter one two and then hits the takedown on Moraga. 90 seconds to go. Ortiz now in side mount. Moraga gets half, then full guard. Ortiz working from the top but Moraga gets up. Ortiz stays on him with a body lock, landing knees against the cage. Ortiz gets another takedown and Moraga tries for a guillotine but Ortiz lands shots from top as Moraga lands from his back. PMN sees it 10-9 and 29-28 for Ortiz.

185 lbs: Yoel Romero vs. Derek Brunson

Round 1 – Left from Brunson. Right hook, left straight from Romero, flying knee attempt. Brunson takes Romero down but he’s right back up. Romero eats a right. Left from Brunson. Leg kick Brunson. Left to the body from Romero. Big head kick from Brunson lands solid. Somehow Romero eats it. Front kick from Romero. Body kick exchange. Left from Brunson. Romero looks for a leg, stuffed. Leg kick Brunson. Romero muscles a takedown but eats a right that rolls him backwards as Brunson gets right up. Romero looking for a standing kimura but Brunson puts him on his back. Romero gets to his feet while eating a couple right hands. Clinched, Romero tries to muscle another takedown, stuffed. PMN sees it 10-9 Brunson.

Round 2 – Leg kick Romero. Romero lands a straight right to the groin after deflecting off Brunson’s arm. Brief time out. Romero looking for the bomb now. Inside leg kick, bobbing and weaving. Brunson lands a nice left, again. Head kick, straight left from Brunson. Right to the body from Romero. Flying knee. Left to the body. Front kick Brunson, then a takedown to follow. Brunson on top in half guard. Brunson in full mount landing some body shots. Romero landing some body shots from his back. Brunson postures up with an elbow and punches, most missing. Romero recovers half guard. Romero tries to get up but Brunson able to keep him down, but not for long as Romero gets to his feet, looks for his own takedown. Misses an uppercut. Brunson stuffs the takedown. Again. Body shot from Romero before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Brunson.

Round 3 – Jab from Brunson. Soft leg kicks. Left to the body from Romero. Brunson shoots, stuffed. Leg kick Romero. Jab Brunson. Front kick, jab from Brunson. Uppercut from Romero. Duck and weave left hook stuns Brunson. Romero ducks into a knee. Another left hook from Romero puts Brunson on his heels. Romero smells blood and drops Brunson, knocks his mouth piece out with more punches. Brunson turtles up, no offense or defense from Brunson as Romero delivers elbows to the body until the referee finally stops it way too late in my opinion. Brunson’s body language said he was done but the ref allowed him to take a ton of extra damage. Hate to see that stuff. Alright. Great come from behind win by Romero.

135 lbs: T.J. Dillashaw vs. Mike Easton

Round 1 – Side kick Easton. Right from Easton. Leg kick Dillashaw. Again. Body kick Dillashaw. Easton returns same and it causes Dillashaw to touch the mat. Dillashaw shoots and puts Easton on his back. Easton kicks Dillashaw off and gets to his feet. Dillashaw presses him to the cage, landing body shots. He backs out and they square up. Punch combo from Dillashaw. Knee to the body from Easton. Side kick. Left right, right hand from Dillashaw. Left straight scores. Misses a big uppercut. High then low kick from Dillashaw. Shoots in, stuffed. Right left from Dillashaw as he backs Easton to the cage. Easton motioning about an eye poke but referee doesn’t interject. Body kick from Dillashaw before the bell. PMN has it 10-9 Dillashaw.

Round 2 – Left, right from Dillashaw, more combinations follow. They exchange leg kicks. Body kick from Dillashaw, again. Easton returns same. Head kick from Dillashaw opens Easton’s head up. Dillashaw gets him down and works ground and pound on his bloody opponent from half guard. Easton gets to his feet, eats a big knee but Easton seems okay. Leg kick Dillashaw. Body kick. Spin kick attempt from Easton. Dillashaw with the takedown, takes Easton’s back with one hook in. Easton spins to his back. Dillashaw in half guard. Easton gets up but Dillashaw on his back with one hook in. Dillashaw with knees to the thighs, back and front. Easton looking for a standing kimura. Dillashaw escapes and lands a nice right as Easton gets up. PMN has it 10-9 Dillashaw.

Round 3 – Leg kick from Easton. Leg kick Dillashaw. Big punch combo from Dillashaw. Leg kick Easton. Big right from Dillashaw and Easton’s chin is like granite. Left hook to the body from Dillashaw. Big left right from Dillashaw. Front kick Dillashaw. Leg kick Easton. Superman punch from Dillashaw. Right hand, uppercut. Left and a couple rights follow. Leg kick Easton. Big right hook from Dillashaw, leg kick. Dillashaw having his way with Easton on the feet. Easton shoots for the leg but Dillashaw pulls free. Dillashaw tees off with another great punch combo. Body kick Dillashaw. Knee to the face, left hook from Dillashaw. They slug it out the last 10 seconds, then hug it out. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Dillashaw.

185 lbs: Lorenz Larkin vs. Brad Tavares

Leg kick inside from Tavares. Body/head combo from Tavares, leg kick. Body kick. Leg kick. Right hook to body. Leg kick Larkin. Big right/left from Larkin. Nice right jab. Tavares fires back and lands. Nice head/body combo from Tavares. Tavares capitalizes on a missed hook and gets a body lock from behind on Larkin, drags him down and gets his back with one hook in, lands a couple lefts before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Tavares.

Round 2 – Knee stomp from Larkin. Tavares fires back with a punch combo. Big leg kick. Inside leg kick. Beautiful punch combo from Tavares. Body kick. Leg kick exchange. Left hand from Tavares, he then blocks a high kick. Larkin ducks a high kick. Body kick from Tavares. He’s being a lot more active than Larkin. Big leg kick from Tavares. He shoots, presses Larkin to the cage who briefly stopped the takedown. Tavares completes the takedown and takes Larkin’s back with both hooks in with 90 seconds to go. Tavares landing heels strikes to the inside thighs of Larkin. Larkin spins around to top control inside full guard. Tavares looking for an arm at the bell. PMN has it 10-9 Tavares.

Round 3 – Nice right from Tavares. High kick. Big leg kick, again. Body shot. Tavares blocks a body kick and a right hand from Larkin. Larkin swings big but Tavares evades. Nice right elbow from Larkin. Larkin checks a leg kick. Big leg kick from Tavares. Larkin backs Tavares up with punches. Tavares launches off the cage with a Superman punch attempt. Leg kick Tavares. Tavares shoots in, Larkin goes for a guillotine but Tavares escapes. Larkin lets him up. Nice right from Tavares, he shoots, presses Larkin to the cage. Elbows from Larkin to the side of head. More. Tavares covering up but staying in the same position. Tavares continues to look for the single leg. Big uppercut from Larkin. They square up. Leg kick Tavares, shoots for the single. Jab from Tavares, shoots for the double leg, no dice. PMN has the round 10-9 Larkin but the fight 29-28 for Tavares.

185 lbs: Luke Rockhold vs. Constantinos Philippou

Round 1 – Leg kick from Costas. Body kick from Luke. Luke blocks a high kick. Luke lands a right hook that causes Costas to touch the ground, Costas then lands a hook of his own. Costas backs Luke up with a punch combo. Head kick lands from Luke. Costas shakes it off, bleeding from his nose. Luke lands a right hook then a left, a body kick, another one, then one more that drops Costas to his knees. He gives him one more, a soccer kick to the body and this fight is over. Great performance from Rockhold. He is clamoring for a rematch with Vitor Belfort. Says he “will go through anybody he needs to, to get there, especially Michael Bisping. That would be nice.”
