Hopefully this is the last time we have to report the date and place for the light heavyweight title fight between champ Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira. As of now it appears that the two will tangle in Baltimore at UFC 172 on April 26th according to the Baltimore Sun. MMAJunkie.com is also reporting that this will be the case as it will be the first time Baltimore will host a UFC event.
So basically Jones vs. Teixeira was set for every pay per view of 2014 at some point. Many thought UFC 169 would get the fight on Super Bowl Weekend. When that was too soon, UFC 170 was targeted but now we have Ronda Rousey vs. Sara McMann to headline that one. How about UFC 171? Yeah that was supposed to happen but Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler takes top billing there.
The light heavyweight division will still see some contender fights as Rashad Evans will welcome Daniel Cormier to the 205 pound division. Alexander Gustafsson and Jimi Manuwa will meet in London in March. So when the dust settles on the Jones – Teixeira fight there will be someone ready to take on the champ.
