When it comes to the new season of The Ultimate Fighter Paige VanZant says she is focused on fighting and nothing else. One might expect her to call out Tecia Torres, who defeated her in their Invicta FC match, or Rose Namajunas who challenged her in the promotion, but nope, only the task at hand – winning the UFC women’s strawweight belt.
“I believe that this show is going to show people what I am made of,” said VanZant. “If anyone followed my career as a fighter they could see that I was not on my game when I fought Tecia, and that was before I started training with Team Alpha Male. I am an entirely new fighter now and I cant wait to show everyone what I am made of.”
Paige also does not see a hidden agenda with Namajunas calling her out because both their losses in Invicta were to Torres. “Rose respectfully said that she would fight me,” she explained. And though that is old news it isn’t history, at least not yet. The trio and the rest of the ladies in the TUF 20 house…”are going to leave it all in the cage,” according to the 3-1 professional fighter.
“I believe that we were all chosen for a specific reason. This is a very talented group of girls and we all bring something different to the table. This is going to be the best season of The Ultimate Fighter that the world has ever seen,” comments “12 Gauge” on the upcoming show. “This season will go down in history,” she added.
With the success of the Rousey and Tate TUF season it comes to no surprise to many that this year’s series will feature an all women’s competition. Dana White has stayed to true to building another UFC women’s division in the form of, “a very talented group of girls..,” as VanZant proudly boasts.
“I knew that another weight division of female fighters would be added to the UFC. The Ultimate Fighter with Rousey and Tate made the ratings increase immensely. People love watching girls fight. Its amazing that WMMA is blowing up the way that it is. The talent has been here now it is finally getting noticed.”
Not surprisingly VanZant was in complete shock when Dana called her because even though she was confident of making it to the UFC one day she didn’t expect it to come so quickly. And now that the shock has set in and her dreams are coming true the highly marketable MMA talent is just truly honored. “I can not be more thankful to all the people that have helped me along this journey,” the Nevada representative appreciatively states.
“Thank you to Dana and the UFC for giving me this opportunity. I am ready for war.”
