UFC 170 is taking shape with the main event and a tough welterweight fight announced. Headlining the event will be Rashad Evans as he welcomes undefeated Daniel Cormier to the light heavyweight division.

Evans has been a broadcast partner of Cormier’s during FOX broadcasts. He has won back to back fights, most recently dispatching Chael Sonnen in the first round at UFC 167. Evans broke the news on the FOX Sports 2 broadcast for UFC Fight Night 33.

Cormier’s move to light heavyweight is on that puts him in title contention from the get go. With wins over Frank Mir and Roy Nelson under the UFC banner, a win over Evans would cement him as a top challenger for the light heavyweight title.

Evans vs. Cormier is slated for five rounds.

Also added to the card is a pair of welterweights looking to rebound from tough losses. Rory MacDonald will face Demian Maia in a fight where both men will look to shake off their split decision losses. Some feel it was an upset as Robbie Lawler got the better of MacDonald as Maia was outpointed by Jake Shields.

UFC 170 will take place on February 22nd at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. For more on this event stay close to ProMMAnow (www.prommanow.com).
