UFC middleweight Rousimar Palhares
It wasn’t what you would expect after a victory. Rousimar Palhares submitted Mike Pierce back in October in his welterweight debut. It took half a minute for him to lace his signature heel hook to get the win. He also held on to the submission just a little to long, a signature move in his career as well.

Following the incident Palhares was released from the UFC. Coupled with a recent suspension for elevated testosterone levels it appeared that he was a black sheep in the MMA community. His talent had always spoken for itself but his antics made him a target for criticism.

Ray Sefo has taken a chance and according a MMAJunkie.com report, has signed Palhares to his World Series of Fighting. He becomes an instant contender in their growing welterweight division. He joins former UFC fighters Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman as well as welterweight champion Steve Carl in a division that is already competitive.

Palhares is expected to make his debut in 2014. No match up has been set at this time. The World Series of Fighting heads to Canada to crown a featherweight champion on December 7th.
