UFC officials have announced that the UFC 169 PPV event that’s set for February 1 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will feature two title fights.

UFC  featherweight champion Jose Aldo will look to defend his title against Ricardo Lamas in the main event. The co-main event will feature the long awaited matchup between UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao.

A heavyweight match between Frank Mir and Alistair Overeem has also been announced for the card.

Aldo (23-1) is coming off his fifth successful title defense in his last matchup against the Chan Sung Jung at UFC 163 in August. Aldo won the bout via TKO (punches) in the fourth round. Lamas (13-2) earned the title shot by rattling off four consecutive wins while finishing three of those opponents via either TKO or submission. He last fought at the UFC on FOX 6 in January which means Lamas will have been out of action over a year when he steps into the Octagon to face Aldo.

Cruz (19-1) hasn’t fought since successfully defending his UFC bantamweight title against Demetrious Johnson (current flyweight champion) in October 2011. Cruz has been sidelined since then with multiple knee injuries which forced the UFC to crown an interim champion.

Renan Barao (31-1-1NC) emerged as the interim champion by defeating Urijah Faber at UFC 149. He has successfully defended the interim title twice, defeating Eddie Wineland at UFC 165 via TKO (spinning back kick/punches).
