UFC middleweight Rousimar Palhares

First off, I want to say that I have a tremendous amount of respect for Rousimar Palhares as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and as a fighter; well at least I did before some of his recent antics. With that being said, Palhares is a complete and total scumbag; I think Chael’s next rant of despicable Brazilians should include Palhares for not only what he did recently to Pierce, but to a range of other competitors in the past.

So as we know, Rousimar Palhares is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Murilo Bustamante; with that rank should come a certain level of respect for the art and for your opponent. This is clearly something that Palhares lacks, and as a member of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community I am ashamed to have him associated with the art I practice.

So for those of you who  don’t know, Palhares has done something to this effect multiple times in the passed. In his fight at UFC 111 Palhares again held on to a heel hook far too long against Tomasz Drwal, also in a fight in his home country of Brazil Palhares not only choked Helio Dipp unconscious, but he also held onto the choke for an extra three seconds while the ref tried to pry him off Dipp.

When you combine this with his decision to crank a heel hook on David Avellan at the 2011 ADCC after going out of bounds, and his recent suspension for elevated testosterone levels there is only one thing I can say; Rousimar Palhares you are a scum bag. I hope that the ADCC suspends Palhares from their upcoming event on October 19th and 20th, and I really hope Bellator or the WSOF doesn’t jump at the chance to pick up Palhares. But knowing the climate and landscape of MMA like I do, I realize Palhares is going to be allowed to take his “talents” to a smaller organization and most likely seriously injure someone.

Alright, rant over. Stay classy MMA world.
