The UFC held a media conference call Tuesday for their upcoming UFC 161 card taking place Saturday, June 15, at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Light heavyweight headliners Dan Henderson and “Suga” Rashad Evans, along with heavyweight co-headliners Roy “Big Country” Nelson and Stipe Miocic participated in the call.

Hendo and Evans shared their thoughts on moving into the main event slot after Interim Bantamweight champ Renan Barao suffered an injury which caused his championship bout with top contender Eddie Wineland to get scrapped.

Nelson, as always, fielded questions about his weight, beard and mullet and also talked about taking the bout with Miocic on short notice. Miocic talked about his game plan against one of the hardest hitting and most durable heavyweights in the game.

Other topics of discussion included the UFC 161 fight that almost happened between Chael Sonnen and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, why the fight couldn’t get made and the impact losing “Shogun” completely may have on the card. All this and much much more!
