The co-main event also showcases the UFC’s burgeoning middleweight division as former Strikeforce 185-pound champ and BJJ god Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza makes his UFC debut against rising star Chris Camozzi.

Round 1 – Leg kick Martins, loud cheer for a simple Brazilian leg kick. Every move getting cheers. Martins working the jab. Larsen fires a right hand that stuns Martins, clinch against the cage. Disengage back to center. Big body kick from Martins. Larsen shoots, goes for a single, working for it against the cage. Uppercut on the break by Larsen as he gives it up. Leg kick caught by Larsen and counters with a right. Front kick to the chin from Martins snaps the head back of Larsen and stuns him. Larsen fires back with punches, drops Martins with a right. Larsen tries to capitalize but gets caught in a submission attempt; calf slicer. He escapes back to the feet, big punch exchange with Martins getting the better of it.  Larsen slowing down. They reset in the center. Larsen comes forward with punches, eats a knee, he shoots and gets the double leg but Martins gets up just in time for a big slam. Elbow from Larsen. Martins gets his back to the cage, gets to his feet. They reset in the center. Nice left from Martins. He slips to the ground on a kick attempt. Martins lays on top inside guard; couple body shots and punches before the bell. Wow! Great way to open the show and this Brazilian crowd loves it… sounds like a main event! Larsen may have got that round.

Round 2 – Leg kick Martins. Martins with a punch combo and high kick. Leg kick. Right counter wobbles Larsen, he shoots looking for the takedown. Knee to thigh from Larsen, three of them as he muscles for the takedown. Still holding the single, gives it up. Larsen gets tagged as he goes for the single again. He lets it go, lands a one two, but eats one or two in return. They reset in the center. Left hook from Larsen. He’s cut under his right eye. Big leg kick from martins. Big right from Larsen stuns Martins. Uppercut from Martins as he fires back with punches. Larsen shoots, stuffed. Left hook from Larsen, again. A big left from Larsen scores during an exchange. He blocks a high kick, a hard one. Left jab from Martins but gets hurt with a big right hand. Larsen follows up with more big punches. Martins wobbling, throwing slow sloppy punches. Larsen lands a couple more. They reset. Right from Larsen, big left. Holy cow! I see it 10-9 Larsen.

Round 3 – Left jab from Martins. Right counter from Martins. Larsen comes in swinging and eats a counter right and Larsen drops face first to the canvas and this fight is over. Amazing amazing fight.

(125 lbs) Chris Cariaso vs. Jussier “Formiga” da Silva

Round 1 – Big leg kick from Jussier, clinch, knee from Cariaso. Jussier pushes him to the cage and drops levels for a takedown, gets the double leg but Cariaso uses the cage to get up. Jussier never lets him go and trips him right back down. Cariaso fighting to get up as Jussier fights to keep him down. Jussier gets him on his back, but only for a moment as Cariaso gets his back to the cage. Jussier flattens him out and takes top position in half guard, looking to pass, holding his neck. 2:30 left in the round and Jussier passes to side mount. Jussier tries to mount as Cariaso fights for full guard. Jussier gets mount for a split second before Cariaso gets back to full guard and lands some elbows from his back. Ref stands them up after it becomes apparent Jussier is doing no damage. Referee Kevin Mulhall calls time to fix Jussier’s glove. The restart. Leg kick from Jussier. Clinch, knee from Cariaso. I have it 10-9 for Jussier.

Round 2 – Jussier gets a quick takedown and full mount easily. Lands a short right hand. Cariaso recovers half guard. Cariaso landing body shots. Formiga doing no damage at all. Formiga gets full mount and finally landing some punches to the face. Cariaso recovers guard. Elbow from Cariaso. Ref stands them up. Nice right hand from Cariaso as Formiga clinches and pushes him to the cage. Cariaso breaks away and they reset in the center. Cariaso trying to get his punches going but tentative because of Formiga’s takedowns. He lands a couple punches before the bell. 10-9 Formiga.

Round 3 – Cariaso trying to set up some punches. Leg kick from Formiga. He shoots for a single, lifts the leg high as Cariaso hops around, and finally he gets him down in under a minute. Cariaso’s back to the cage, gets to a knee and now to his feet. Formiga stays on him, looking to put him back down. Ref stops the wrestling match and they reset in the center. Left from Cariaso. Nice right. Formiga shoots, stuffed, but he pushes him to the cage, knee from Cariaso. Formiga drops levels. Cariaso locks up a standing modified guillotine choke, they go to the ground but Formiga escapes some pretty serious trouble and gets back to his feet. Cariaso gets a takedown now. Formiga is cut. Cariaso looking to finish with a guillotine, now postures up with punches, moves to side control with big elbows before the bell. Formiga bleeding, gets to his feet and eats a knee from Cariaso before the bell. Nice comeback from Cariaso but too little too late I’m afraid. 10-9 for Cariaso, 29-28 for Formiga as I see it.

(125 lbs.) Azamat Gashimov vs. John Lineker

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Right hand from Lineker, leg kick, right to the gut. Huge right hand drops Gashimov. This kid has some very nice hands. Gashimov fights to his feet, takes a knee, they wrestle in the clinch and then reset in the center. Overhand right from Gashimov, he shoots, countered by Lineker and he puts Gashimov on his back. Elbow off his back from Gashimov. Lineker inside guard dropping elbows and punches. Gashimov gets to his feet, they square up. Half the round gone. Gashimov bouncing around. Lands a front kick that causes Lineker to stumble. Nice left right combo from Lineker. Nice counter from Gashimov snaps Lineker’s head back. Gashimov loses a point for grabbing the fence after being warned as Lineker was trying to take him down. Big overhand right from Lineker drops Gashimov. He gets up fairly quick. Big round for Lineker especially after the point deduction. 10-8 Lineker.

Round 2 – Lineker may have the biggest power at 125 lbs. Leg kick Lineker. Nice right to the body, left to the head from Lineker — beautiful combo connects perfectly and Gashimov doesn’t know what hit him. Lineker lands a right kick to the body that backs Gashimov up and seems to hurt him. Lineker hunts him down with a right to the body that causes Gashimov to shrink to the ground (back to fence) while covering up and eat several uppercuts that end this fight. Referee Yamasaki steps in and stops the assault. Beautiful performance.

(205 lbs) Roger Hollett vs. Fabio Maldonado

Round 1 – Hollett swings big and misses. Leg kick. Left to body from Maldonado. Left hook, right from Maldonado. Spinning back kick right to the nutsack from Hollet and Maldonado goes down. Wow! That’s one way to get the knockdown! That may be one of the most brutal shots I’ve ever seen. It was a full power spinning back kick dead to the groin. Maldonado is still laying on the ground and rolling in pain. They ask him if he needs to see a doctor and he says no. Maldonado finally gets to his feet to the cheers of the crowd. He stomps the ground, shakes it off and here we go. Tough man. I would have gone home and cried. Looks like Hollett is looking for the takedown. Left leaping hook from Maldonado. Hollett gets a double leg takedown without even needing to set it up. This gets boos from the Brazilian crowd. Ref stands them up after Hollett does nothing with it and cheers ensue. Hollett pushes him to the cage. Drops levels, but Maldonado prevents it with underhooks. Knee to body from Hollett. Knee returns same. Dirty boxing from Maldonado and ref separates them. Leg kick Hollett. Maldonado tells him to come on, and he does… with a takedown; on top in half guard. 10-9 Hollett but you can’t blame Maldonado for any lack of performance after that groin shot. Round 2 – Couple nice counter punches from Hollett, spinning kick and a knee follows. He goes for a single, Maldonado defends. Right hand and left hook from Hollett. Maldonado pushes him to the cage, gives some dirty boxing, uppercut. Nice body shots from Hollett, Maldonado tees off with a combo to the body/head. He backs Hollett to the cage with dirty boxing. Thai plum and a knee from Hollett, but takes several body shots. Hollett pressing Maldonado to the cage now. Left hook from Maldonado as Hollett backs out to the center. Nice right from Hollett, he shoots for a high single, presses Maldonado to the cage, holding the leg. Maldonado roughs him up with short punches and Hollett is bleeding above his left eye. Maldonado putting money in the bank with body shot after body shot. They separate to the center. 10-9 Maldonado.

Round 3 – Hollett gets a single leg but Maldonado bounces right up. Clinched against the cage, body shots from Maldonado, lots of body shots, uppercuts. Knee from Hollett, left right to the chin. Maldonado tells him to bring it on by pointing at his chin. Hollett drops levels for the shot, Maldonado with underhooks defends, turns Hollett to the cage and tees off with dirty boxing looking like Nick Diaz with body and head shots. Hollett escapes to the center. Maldonado backs him to the cage with more good looking boxing, more Diaz-esque body/head shots. Hollett drops to a knee but bounces right up and Maldonao tells him to stand where he can hit him.  Hollett lands a small left but he’s mostly defense at this point. They reset in the center. Maldonado working a left jab, Hollett musters up a few punches that fall short, presses Maldonado to the cage as he looks for the shot. Maldonado with underhooks stuffs it once again. Nice left from Maldonado. Ref resets them in the center. They clinch and Maldonado hits the inside trip for the takedown, lands some ground and pound before the bell. Beautiful performance once he got going by Maldonado. 10-9 and 29-28 for Maldonado as I see it.

(135 lbs.) Iuri Alcantara vs. Iliarde Santos

Round 1 – Alcantara with a high kick, blocked. One two punch, jumping knee, body lock from Santos pushes him to the cage. Short elbows from Alcantara. Santos working for the takedown, eats a knee and punches. They reset and Alcantara tees off with several big punches that snap Santos’ head back. Sanots goes for a bodylock takedown but Alcantara is right back on his feet. They square up. Leg kick Santos. One two from Alcantara. Big left kick to the body then a left hand drops Santos. Alcantara follows up with several punches to the face and the ref pulls him off stopping the fight.

(170 lbs.) Paulo Thiago vs. Michel Richard dos Prazeres

Round 1 – Big leg kick from Prazeres. High kick, blocked, he shoots for a single, stuffed, but continues to muscles Thiago to the cage. Clinched, knee from Thiago. Body lock from Prazeres, knee to body. Thiago puts one knee down, takes a knee to the body. Thiago reverses the takedown attempt and takes full mount for about .1 second before Prazeres is back up and pressing Thiago to the cage with a body lock. Ref separates them. They reset. Body kick from Prazeres. Big leg kick. High kick blocked. Overhand right from Thiago causes Prazeres to flinch. Leg kick from Prazeres. Nice right to body left to head from Thiago. Prazeres seems very comfortable and confident in his UFC debut. He catches a leg kick. Lands a leg kick inside. Short right hook from Thiago. Big inside leg kick from Prazeres. He shoots, body lock, presses Thiago to the cage. Trying to muscle a takedown with underhooks. Short punch. I have it 10-9 Prazeres.

Round 2 – Big inside leg kick from Prazeres. High kick blocked. Leg kick. Left hook from Thiago. Nice knee then a left hand drops Prazeres. Thiago takes top control in half guard. Prazeres escapes a back mount and gets to his feet, clinched, trip takedown from Thiago. Prazeres muscles his way to his feet, gets a body lock takedown. Elbows to the head from Thiago, he gets to one knee against the cage, trying to get up. He’s up. Body lock, Prazeres takes him down but Thiago gets right up, they wrestle in the clinch. Knee from Thiago, big left hand from Prazeres and he gets a takedown. Elbow to the back from Thiago, another one. Trying to get up as Prazeres holds him down with just over a minute to go. Prazeres pins him to the cage with a few punches. Grabs a front headlock. Thiago hits the switch and takes top control with half guard. Thiago lands a few punches before the bell. 10-9 Thiago.

Round 3 – Touch gloves. Leg kick Prazeres. Soft left hook from Thiago. Again. Checks a leg kick. Counter left from Thiago, straight right, left jab. Left from Thiago. Prazeres lands a short right on the inside. Thiago presses him to the cage. Knee from Prazeres, he backs out. Nice one two from Prazeres. One two from Thiago. Prazeres shoots, stuffed, shoots again. Elbows to the side of the head from Thiago. Ref separates the clinch. Left hook, left hook and a right from Prazeres. Nice question mark kick from Thiago lands on the jaw of Prazeres. Overhand right backs Prazeres up. Big leg kick from Prazeres. Thiago returns same. One minute to go. Inside leg kick Prazeres. jab from Thiago, counter left hook. Clinch, knee from Thiago, knee to body, clinch wrestling against the cage, trip takedown from Thiago that may have just earned him the round and thus the fight. Prazeres gives up his back, Thiago gets him in a crucifix and lands some shots at the bell. 10-9 and 29-28 for Thiago as I see it.

(155 lbs.) John Cholish vs. Gleison Tibau

Round 1 – Left hook from Tibau, left to the body follows shortly afterward. Body kick attempt from Cholish. Nice punch exchange with Tibau getting the better of it. Leg kick from Cholish. Tibau catches a body kick and dumps Cholish, takes top control inside guard but Cholish fights his way to his feet. Clinched against the cage, left hook on the break from Tibau. High kick blocked. Tibau catches a body kick. Cholish dives and rolls out of it a la Chael Sonnen. They reset. Tibau catches a leg kick, counters with a left hand and dumps Cholish on his butt. Cholish fights to his feet. Tibau pressing him to the cage. They separate. Inside leg kick from Cholish. Tibau shoots, stuffed. 10-9 Tibau.

Round 2 – Jumping knee from Tibau. Thai plum and jumping knee attempt from Cholish. It will be interesting to see if he can tire Tibau out. He’s so big and muscular he has a tendency to gas. Clinch wrestling, Tibau presses him to the cage. No real punches have landed as we near the 3 minute mark. They separate and square up. Leg kick from Cholish lands, caught, release. Big left hand from Tibau wobbles Cholish. Cholish tries to shoot and Tibau jumps on a guillotine, he readjusts then jumps on it again, arm in, and Cholish taps out.

(155 lbs.) Mike Rio vs. Francisco Trinaldo

Round 1 – Rio misses a leg kick. Nice straight left from Trinaldo. Rio shoots, stuffed. Left jab from Rio, he eats a counter as he shoots in for the takedown, gets Trinaldo down, landing short punches as Trinaldo gets to his knees. Rio holding a front headlock. Rio working a standing guillotine, lets it go and lands a punch combo, clinch, knees from Rio. Trinaldo presses him to the cage. Knee exchange. Trinaldo goes for a trip, misses it, gets a body lock and slam, landing in half guard. Trinaldo holding a head and arm choke while in half guard and Mike Rio taps out fairly quick. Wow! Wow! Wow! Sub of the night so far.

(145 lbs.) Hacran Dias vs. Nik Lentz

Round 1 – Touch gloves. One two from Lentz. He shoots, they struggle in the clinch, Lentz drops levels – against the cage – Dias defends. Lentz backs out. Lentz comes forward with punches, lands a right. Lentz shoots for a single and Dias escapes. Nice left hook from Lentz. Again. Overhand right lands on the back of the head. Jab from Dias. Nice one two from Lentz backs Dias up. Leg kick Dias. Lentz shoots for the single, presses Dias to the cage, looking for the trip. Dias defends and looks for his own takedown. Lentz turns him around to the cage, looking for the trip. Short right from Dias, and he defends the takedown and goes for his own takedown, Lentz reverses it, they scramble and Lentz is trying to take his back. Dias hits the switch and gets a body lock from the back on Lentz. Lentz fighting to stap on his feet, gets underhooks and looks for the trip. Knee from Lentz. Grueling round. 10-9 for Lentz as I see it.

Round 2 – Dias comes forward, Lentz backs him up with punches. Dias lands a jab, then a glancing punch behind the head that knocks Lentz to a knee. A knee from Lentz to the face knocks Dias to his butt. He goes after him and gets one hook in as he takes his back against the cage. Lentz looking for a choke, landing punches here and there grinding Dias down. More punches to the face from Lentz and he flattens Dias on his back now in top control in half guard. Lentz working the ground and pound with elbows and punches. Dias fights his way to his feet. Lentz stays on him, clinched up, fighting for the takedown. Dias holds the fence and prevents a takedown. But Lentz keeps working and puts him down, on top in half guard dropping elbows. One minute to go. Lentz stands up. Upkick from Dias scores as Lentz takes top control in half guard. More elbows from Lentz, he moves to full mount. Dias uses the cage to try and push off with his feet but Lentz maintains control. 10-9 Lentz. Ref warns Dias he will take a point if he holds the cage again. Dias’ corner tells him he’s down on the cards and needs a KO.

Round 3 – Nice right hook from Dias. Lentz shoots, stuffed and gets rocked with a couple more big punches as he comes out very strong trying to finish. Lentz shoots and ties Dias up. Crowd boos. Dias gets free and goes back to striking, lands a nice left, gets a slam but gets caught in a guillotine. Looks loose. Dias with body shots and Lentz lets the choke go. Dias on top in half guard. He locks up an arm triangle from half guard. Lentz hanging on, gives a couple shots to the body and Dias lets the choke go. Looked like Lentz was thinking of tapping. Dias maintains top control as Lentz fights for a reversal. Two minutes to go. Lentz gets to a knee but Dias pushes him back down and tries to work the ground and pound from the top. Lentz looking for a kimura, lets it go, looks for a triangle, Dias stands up. Lentz is up and they trade punches. Right hook from Dias, then a one two and Lentz lands a counter, shoots for the single against the cage. Sprawl from Dias. Great effort from Dias but I have it two rounds to one for Lentz.

(185 lbs) Rafael Natal vs. Joao Zeferino

Round 1 – Big right from Zeferino backs Natal up. Swings a big overhand right looking for the KO, misses. Lands a head kick though that smacks Natal’s cheek loudly. Leg kick Zeferino. Looks very comfortable for his UFC debut. Overhand right from Zeferino and Natal lands a counter, gets the clinch, undherhooks, looks for the trip but ends up on the bottom. Both guys go for the legs. Zeferino looking for a heel hook, lets it gos and goes for it again. Now for a footlock. Natal using his heel to kick his arm. Natal throwing punches. Zeferino goes for the foot again, cranks it and lets it go. Natal locking up Zeferino’s foot too. 30 seconds left and the ref has seen enough playing footsie. They square up. No punches thrown before the round ends. Strange round to score but I have it 10-9 for Zeferino. Natal’s camp said it’s just as they thought, all he has is a right hand.

Round 2 – Natal switching stances, lands a leg kick but pays for it by eating a right hand. Overhand right scores for Zeferino, then a left to the body. Body kick scores. Right from Natal. Zeferino with a takedown but Natal gets right up, clinched against the cage, he puts some knees to the thighs. Zeferino turns him around, they separate and square up. Zeferino slowing down after a probably adrenaline dump. Big leg kick from Natal. Zeferino shoots, stuffed. Natal holding a front headlock. He lets it go. Ref stands Zeferino up to meet Natal. Natal throws a right but he eats a nice one two from Zeferino that snaps his head back. . Left counter. He ducks a spinning backfist. Zeferino attempts a super tired and sloppy spinning kick and just falls to his butt. Natal takes top control, drops and elbow and punches from inside guard, passes to half guard. Lands a few elbows to the body and head. 10-9 for Natal.

Round 3 – Nice right from Zeferino. Body kick. Leg kick Natal. Again. Natal with a body lock, lands some punches, then backs out. They square up. Nice counter right from Zeferino as Natal throws a kick. Leg kick Natal. Zeferino winging the overhand right. Side kick attempt from Natal. Zeferino pushes him to the cage looking for a takedown but Natal reverses it and ends up on top in half guard. Natal works the ground and pound and Zeferino recovers full guard. Natal passes to half guard, then side mount. One minute to go, elbows to the body from Natal, moves to full mount, nice right hand. Zeferino covering up face down, Natal landing several shots, Zeferino squirms, looks for the choke briefly, goes back to landing punches until the bell sounds. That adrenaline dump is a bitch for guys making their debuts in the UFC. I wonder how Rockhold will deal with it over five rounds? 10-9 and 29-28 for Natal as I see it.

Right hand. Leg kick. They trade right hands. Nice right hook to the body from dos Anjos. Jab from Dunham following a nice exchange in the pocket. Overhand left from dos Anjos, short uppercut from Dunham. Big leg kick from dos Anjos. Nice straight left to the body from dos Anjos, Dunham catches a leg kick and dumps him, takes top control inside full guard with just over a minute to go. Body shots from Dunham. Elbows from his back from dos Anjos. Nice elbow from Dunham as dos Anjos throws up his legs. Body shots from Dunham. Ref stands them up. Dos Anjos swings big, Dunham fires back before the bell. Close round. 10-9 Dunham.

Round 2 – Leg kick Dunham, they trade in the pocket and Dunham gets a takedown but dos Anjos pops right up. Dunham pushes him to the cage, landing knees. Dos Anjos returns the favor with a couple of his own. Dunham pressing forward, brief clinch and knee on the break from dos Anjos. Dos Anjos appears to be cut, likely from an accidental head butt. They both want it bad and are slugging it out, both guys landing good shots. Great performance from these young men. I have it 10-9 and 30-27 for Dunham although every round was very close.

Now that seems like a “home town” decision. Every round was close but I thought it was pretty evident Dunham got the win.

Jacare backs out, lands a big right hand, gets the trip takedown. Jacare stacks him, Camozzi gets half guard. Elbow from Jacare, looking to pass, lands a couple nice right hands. Big left from Jacare. Camozzi recovers full guard, lands an upkick. Jacare with a beautiful pass to the opposite side he was threatening on. Camozzi gets to his knees and tries to get up but Jacare catches him in an omoplata. Camozzi rolls out of it. Jacare ends up in side mount. Now full mount, locks on a arm triangle and Camozzi goes unconscious. Welcome to the UFC Jacare! Amazing performance. UFC jitters my ass.

Round 1 – Crowd boos as Rockhold is announced. Is it possible for Vitor to lose in Brazil? Rockhold seems calm at staredown. Belfort hopping. No touch of gloves. Rockhold slips on a high kick, gets up. He’s pressing forward. Crowd going NUTS. High kick blocked. Wheel kick from Vitor misses. Rockhold shoots and stuffed. Belfort attacks with punches, backs him to the cage. After brief clinch Belfort backs out. Rockhold calls him on. Two leg kicks. Belfort fires punches. Leg kick Rockhold. Leg kick Vitor. Left hand Rockhold. Leg kick. Wheel kick from Vitor knocks Rockhold basically unconscious but just for good measure he lands a couple punches and he goes out COLD. HOLY F*CK*NG SH*T — THIS CROWD JUST LOST THEIR MINDS!!!! TRT or not, that’s DEVASTATING! AND TRT DON’T TEACH THAT! Perfect KO, we’ve never seen that before from Vitor. Give that man a title shot! — Good to see them hug it out.
