The UFC on FX 8 event that’s set for May 18 in Santa Catarina, Brazil, has a new co-main event due to the injury bug.
UFC middleweight Constantinos Philippou (12-2, 1NC) has suffered a cut during his training camp that will prevent him from fighting Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. However, Chris Camozzi has agreed to face the Brazilian on his home turf on short notice.
The UFC on FX 8 event will be headlined by a middleweight fight between Vitor Belfort and former Strikeforce middleweight champ Luke Rockhold.
Camozzi(19-5) is riding a four fight winning streak, including a split decision win over Nick Ring in his last outing at UFC 158. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (17-3, 1NC) comes into this bout off a win over Ed Herman in the final Strikeforce event that took place in January.
