Tyson GriffinUFC veteran Tyson Griffin announced via Twitter that he has signed with the World Series of Fighting promotion and hopes to debut for the promotion in August:

Griffin (16-6) is coming off a unanimous decision win over TUF winner Efrain Escudero at the RFA 4 fighting event in November 2012. Griffin made his UFC debut in 2006 at UFC 63 and went (7-2) in his first nine UFC fights. However, he lost all three of his UFC fights in 2010 and went (1-1) inside the promotion in 2011 before being released following his first round KO loss against Bart Palaszewski.

Griffin spent most of his UFC career as a lightweight before trying his luck in the featherweight division. He returned to the lightweight division for his fight with Escudero. Tyson is still relatively young at 29 years old, and was always one of the UFC’s most exciting fighters. It’ll be interesting to see if he has another run in him to become one of the best lightweights in the world again. As you can see from his tweet, he hopes to debut in August against an opponent that will be named at a later date.

  1. That’s a really good signing. You can always count on Griffin to bring it, can’t wait to see who they match him up against.
