[ads1]UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier has been getting a lot of questions about whether he’s going to stay in the heavyweight division or move down to the light heavyweight division. He appeared on FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight” to address the matter and provided a glimpse into his mindset on the matter:

“I’ve been watching the rankings. I want to fight someone that actually advances my career. I said before that my first fight at 205 I would like for NOT to be for the belt, and I would like a very high level guy. Lot of guys are tied up, I just looked at the rankings again, but big fights…big fights is what I’m interested in whether it be at heavyweight or whether it be 205 it doesn’t matter. I’m going to get with my team this week and we’re going to make a decision.”

Cormier (12-0) is coming off a successful UFC debut against former heavyweight champion Frank Mir at the UFC on FOX 7 event that took place on Saturday. Cormier dominated the fight, landing big shots while pinning Mir against the cage for much of the bout. It’ll be interesting to see what he decides to do, but my bet would be a move to the light heavyweight division for a big fight that would put him in position to challenge for the title in his next bout with a win.
