Matt Brown continued his ascent up the ladder of the UFC’s welterweight division, extending his win streak to five with his destruction of Jordan Mein by TKO at 1:00 of the second round. The exciting bout kicked off the televised main card of the UFC on FOX 7 event on FOX.

Jordan Mein came out firing, landing a step in elbow right out of the gate as he pursued Matt Brown to start the bout. Mein continued to throw the lean-in elbow, but in true Matt Brown fashion, “The Immortal” fired back and halted the forward progress of Mein with a series of big left hooks. From there, Brown continued to come forward, peppering Mein with a flurry of strikes that put his opponent on the cage. Mein regrouped, uncorking back-to-back left hands, but Brown kept coming, closing the distance and punishing Mein with knees inside. Mein turned the tides with a brutal punch to the liver that dropped Brown, then landed a flurry of shots from the top as Brown scrambled to protect his body. Mein got careless and was nearly finished as Brown locked up a tight triangle choke. Mein managed to escape the submission but after the restart it was clear that Matt Brown had seized control of the bout.

Brown picked up right where he left off to start the second stanza, coming forward with a flurry of right hands that backed Mein into the cage. Brown went back to his clinch game, uncorking powerful knees up the middle that dropped Jordan Mein to the canvas. Brown pounced, firing off a flurry of right hands and elbows to the body forcing the referee stoppage at the 1:00 mark.

The TKO victory marks the fifth consecutive for Matt Brown as he improves to 17-11 overall (10-5 UFC).
