A new bout has been added to the Cage Warriors 55 card as Neil Seery (12-9) takes on Mikael Silander (8-1) in a battle for the Cage Warriors flyweight title. The event is set to take place at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland, on June 1.

Cage Warriors officials recently confirmed the bout.

Also on the card, Paul Redmond faces Marc Allen in a lightweight matchup. The main card is will air LIVE on MMAJunkie.com and CageWarriors.com with the prelims expected to air on Facebook.

Neil Seery is currently riding a three fight winning streak, most recently defeating Paul Marin via KO at Cage Warriors 53 earlier this month. Prior to that he scored a unanimous decision victory over Karl Harrison at Cage Warriors 49 in October 2012, and a second round submission win over Mark Platts at Cage Warriors 47 in June 2012. Seery will no doubt look to extend his winning streak to four with a good performance against Silander.

“I’m very grateful to Cage Warriors for giving me this title shot. I feel at home fighting for Cage Warriors and the opportunity to become their first flyweight champion is a great privilege, especially in my hometown. I can’t wait for June 1.” – Neil Seery.

Silander last fought at Fight Festival 32 in October 2012, where he scored a third round submission victory over Wade Choate. Prior to that he dropped a unanimous decision loss against Ali Bagautinov at “Fight Nights – Battle of Moscow 7” in June 2012. That loss snapped a seven fight winning streak he had been on, defeating notable fighters such as Perttu Paatola, Romanas Siaudinis and Michal Hamrsmid during 2011/2012. Silander now has the chance to start another winning streak by defeating Seery on June 1.

“I’m truly honoured to be given the opportunity to win the first ever Cage Warriors flyweight title,” said Silander. “This fight comes at a perfect time in my career. I’ve been training really hard and it will be an awesome chance to showcase my skills to a wider audience.” – Mikael Silander.
