World Series of Fighting bantamweight star Marlon Moraes joined Pro MMA Now Radio Sunday night to talk about his win over Tyson Nam and the four fight win streak he is riding.
Moraes discussed the attention he has gotten from his fights as well as his new ventures in opening a gym with UFC lightweight Edson Barboza. He also spoke on his next purchase, a pair of soccer shoes. Look for Marlon to return to the cage this Summer for World Series of Fighting.
Marlon spoke on the momentum he has moving forward in his career.
“I have been training so hard and now I am getting the credit. People are talking more about me and I think more people know who I am. I am going to keep working and doing different things to entertain the people”
Moraes turns 25 this month and talked about the winning streak and what he attributes it to.
“I am happy and training hard. I am learning alot and working on my boxing. I am training my boxing with coach Mark Henry who is up there with Ricardo Almeida and works with Frankie Edgar. I am training with Edson Barboza. We grew up together. I am working with Frankie Edgar on his muay thai.
He touched on his training camp with Tyson Nam.
“It was the hardest training camp. I suffered a lot of injuries in training camp. You are training with guys that you are never gonna fight. It was hard. I did go into the fight at 100%.”
He talked about his return to the WSOF cage.
“The World Series of Fighting promised me I would be on the July card. I took one week off after the fight and went right back into training. I feel so good. I would fight in June if they asked me.”
Moraes has recently opened a gym in Palm Beach Gardens.
“We just opened a gym. I teach kids jiu jitsu and train. We have Vagner Rocha in the gym and some up and coming fighters”
The one thing that was most evident from this interview is how happy Moraes is at this point in his career. You can hear him talk about his happiness with World Series of Fighting and what would happen if the UFC came calling.
