[ads2]Rising bantamweight star signed with World Series of Fighting, Marlon Moraes (10-4), along with Invicta Fighting Championships bantamweight Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke (2-1), were our guests Sunday night on Pro MMA Now Radio.
Moraes is currently riding a four-fight win streak, most recently scoring a first round knockout win over Tyson Nam at WSOF 2 last month. We spoke with Moraes about this win streak and what he attributes his recent success to. He talked about working with boxing coach Mark Henry and training with former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
Moraes plans to return to action in July but said he is already training in case WSOF needs him to fill in on the June card. He also talked with us about his new gym Valor MMA in Florida where he teaches alongside Edson Barboza.
Fresh of a controversial stoppage at Invicta FC 5, Jessamyn Duke was kind enough to return to the show to share with us her thoughts on her bout with Miriam Nakamoto. Duke took us through the fight in her own words and why she and her team have made the decision to officially protest the ruling.
She has a ton of support from fans, sponsors, coaches, teammates and friends who feel very strongly that she has a valid argument against the ruling especially after seeing different angles of the stoppage. See for yourself:
Duke explained why she feels she deserves a rematch and how she feels about Nakamoto’s actions and comments after the fight. She also talked about her plans to try out for The Ultimate Fighter 18 which will include females and be coached by Ronda Rousey and the winner of Cat Zingano vs. Miesha Tate.
In addition to talking with Moraes and Duke, hosts Gary Thomas and Jack Bratcher also recapped the Invicta FC 5, UFC on Fuel TV 9 and Bellator 95 cards. We also previewed the TUF 17 Finale which takes place this coming Saturday and is headlined with Urijah Faber vs. Scott Jorgensen.
