A new bout has been added to the UFC on FOX 8 card as Mac Danzig (21-10-1) faces Melvin Guillard (30-12-2) in a lightweight matchup. The event is set to take place at the Key Arena in Seattle on July 27.
UFC officials recently confirmed the new bout.
Danzig vs. Guillard is the first fight confirmed for the UFC on FOX 8 event. The main card will air LIVE on FOX with the prelims expected to air on FX and Facebook.
Mac Danzig last fought at UFC on FUEL TV 6 in November 2012, where he dropped a split decision loss against Takanori Gomi. Prior to that he scored a unanimous decision victory over Efrain Escudero at UFC 145 in April 2012. That win followed a unanimous decision loss to Matt Wiman in October 2011. Danzig will no doubt look to bounce back into the win column with a big victory over Guillard.
Melvin Guillard is currently on a two fight losing streak, most recently dropping a split decision loss against Jamie Varner at UFC 155 in December 2012. Prior to that he suffered a first round KO loss against Donald Cerrone at UFC 150 in August 2012. Melvin’s most recent victory was against Fabrício Camões at UFC 148 in July 2012, where he won via unanimous decision. Guillard now has the chance to get back onto the winning track with a good performance against Danzig on July 27.
