WSOF President Ray Sefo announced that Fitch would make his WSOF debut in June against the winner of the Josh Burkman/Aaron Simpson fight that was set to take place on Saturday night.

Burkman was able to stop Simpson in the first round via TKO, but didn’t feel as though Fitch had earned the right to fight him according to his post-fight interview. Burkman has won both of his WSOF fights, whereas Fitch is coming off a loss in his last UFC bout in February.

Fitch appeared in the cage during Burkman’s post-fight interview with Bas Rutten, but was not asked any questions pertaining to the potential matchup. However, the two fights did shake hands and show respect to one another inside the cage.

The WSOF 2 event was headlined by a heavyweight bout between Andrei Arlovski and Anthony Johnson, with Johnson winning the fight via unanimous decision. He nearly finished Arlovski at the end of the first round with a barrage of punches that put the former UFC champ down, but the bell sounded as Johnson was swarming him with punches to save him.

Johnson won the majority of the exchanges on the feet while often shooting for takedowns in which Arlovski was able to shut down, but Johnson kept Arlovski pent up against the cage for a large amount of time as well.
