The UFC on FUEL TV 8 event started out as a dud but ended in dramatic fashion as Wanderlei Silva turned back the clock knocking out Brian Stann in vintage fashion.
UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt also continued to revive his career, winning his third consecutive fight by knocking out Stefan Struve in the third round. The event featured a lot of fighters that were jockeying for position in their respective weight divisions. Let’s see where each fighter goes next after the dust settles.
–Wanderlei Silva: Should probably retire, but has indicated that he will keep fighting. Most likely at 205 pounds where he seems to be able to take punches a little better. A bout with James Te Huna would be a slobber knocker.
-Brian Stann: Stann will go back to the middleweight division after taking the bout with Silva as a light heavyweight. Stann has lost three out of his last four fights, and will be looking to get back on track in his next fight. A bout with Tim Boetsch would make plenty of sense with both fighters coming off losses.
-Mark Hunt: Hunt has earned a step up in competition. If Roy Nelson beats Cheick Kongo at UFC 159, that would be a great fight. Hunt has already knocked out Kongo, so if Kongo beats Nelson…a bout with Shane Carwin would be good if he ever recovers from his injury.
-Stefan Struve: Talk about a fighter that is just terrible at using the tools he has at his disposal. He is only 25 years old but has taken an obscene amount of punishment in his short career. A bout with Brendan Schaub would be cool.
-Yushin Okami: He made it easy by calling out Michael Bisping.
–Hector Lombard: Might be cut from the UFC
–Diego Sanchez: Wants to fight Nate Diaz according to his post-fight interview
–Dong Hyun Kim: A bout with Mike Pierce makes sense. Pierce has won three in a row and Kim has won two straight.
