leonard garcia - 136A new bout has been announced for the UFC 159 card as Leonard Garcia (15-10-1) faces Cody McKenzie (13-3) in a featherweight matchup. The event is set to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on April 27.

Leonard Garcia recently announced the new fight on his Twitter page:

UFC 159 will feature a headline bout between current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and title challenger Chael Sonnen. The main card will air LIVE on PPV with the prelims expected to air on FX and Facebook.

Leonard Garcia is currently on a four fight losing streak, his most recent bout was against Max Holloway at UFC 155 in December 2012, where he dropped a very close split decision loss. Prior to that he suffered losses against Jung Chan-Sung, Nam Phan and Matt Grice, so he now finds himself in a must-win situation against McKenzie. Garcia’s most recent victory came against Nam Phan in their first encounter back in December 2010. Leonard will no doubt look to bounce back onto the winning track with a good performance against Cody.

Cody McKenzie last fought at UFC 148 in July 2012, where he dropped a first round KO loss against Chad Mendes. Prior to that he defeated Marcus LeVesseur via first round submission at UFC on FUEL TV 3 in May 2012. That was a bounce back victory which followed back-to-back submission losses against Yves Edwards and Vagner Rocha during 2011. McKenzie now has the chance to get himself back into the win column by defeating Garcia on April 27.
