Demetrious JohnsonIt appears that UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will be on the shelf for quite a bit according to his head trainer Matt Hume.

Hume appeared on AXStv’s “Inside MMA” on Friday and confirmed the news that Johnson indeed has a torn labrum and will be out at least 12 weeks.

Johnson (17-2-1) successfully defended the UFC flyweight strap for the first time in back and forth five round unanimous decision win over John Dodson. He was set to headline the TUF 17 Finale event in April against John Moraga, but the injury he sustained during training has put a halt to those plans.

The UFC has since announced that Urijah Faber vs. Scott Jorgensen will headline the TUF 17 Finale event.
