UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo

Well, UFC 156 has come and past and it certainly delivered on all levels for the most part.

The upsets that took place certainly shook things up regarding potential matchup moving forward, and we’re going to take our best stab at who some of the winners and losers should fight next. Check it out below:

Jose Aldo: I know everyone is excited about Anthony Pettis saying he wants to fight Aldo. However, Ricardo Lamas has earned the next shot at Aldo in my opinion…and should get it.

Frankie Edgar: It seems as though he’s going to stay in the featherweight division. A bout with highly ranked Dustin Poirier is inviting, or if Pettis is serious about coming to the featherweight division. Let him face Edgar in a number one contender matchup since the Aldo/Edgar fight was somewhat close.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira: Big win over Rashad Evans. A fight with Shogun Rua to set up an epic rematch from their PRIDE fight that took place in 2005.

Rashad Evans: He should move to the middleweight division. A rematch with Michael Bisping makes sense. Both coming off losses, but Bisping is a ranked middleweight.

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva: Epic KO win over Alistair Overeem. I’d match Silva up with Josh Barnett if Barnett does indeed sign with the UFC.

Alistair Overeem: Overeem will probably never be able to recover from this loss. It looked really bad on TV for someone who was marketed as an elite striker. Overeem should fight the winner of the Roy Nelson/Cheick Kongo fight that will take place in April.

Demian Maia: Wow…he dominated Jon Fitch. He’s a contender and a bout with the winner of the Carlos Condit/Rory MacDonald fight would set him up for a title shot.

Jon Fitch: He’s an official gatekeeper now. They could match him up with Martin Kampmann who is coming off a loss or give him Tyron Woodley who wants a top opponent next.

Joseph Benavidez: He should get a rematch with Demetrious Johnson as he is clearly the number two flyweight in the world.
