The UFC on FOX 6 show scored a strong preliminary rating with 3.77 million viewers according to TVByTheNumbers.
It earned a 1.8 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic. Those numbers were good enough to score a first place finish for FOX among all television channels and were up 13% over the UFC on FOX 5 show that took place in December.
The event was headlined by the UFC flyweight championship fight between Demetrious Johnson and challenger John Dodson. The co-main event featured former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson taking on Glover Teixeira. Johnson won via unanimous decision with Jackson losing a unanimous decision in what is reportedly his final UFC fight.
These ratings cover the 8 p.m.-10 p.m. time slot, but the five round main event ran over that time slot by about 20 minutes which should help add to the final rating that will become available in a couple of days.
It was the first time that flyweights had headlined a UFC event on FOX, and these strong ratings should be encouraging for the small weight classes going forward.
