gegard-mousasi1MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani has reported that Alexander Gustafsson and Gegard Mousasi have verbally agreed to an April 6th tilt at UFC on FUEL TV 9. Set to take place in Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe Arena, the event will mark the UFC‘s second trip to Gustafsson’s home country of Sweden in as many years.

Gustafsson, one of the UFC’s fastest rising young stars, enters the projected meeting riding a six fight win streak, which includes wins over Thiago Silva, Matt Hamill, and former Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua. Meanwhile, the 27-year-0ld Mousasi will look to start his UFC career on a winning note after a lengthy and successful career in Strikeforce and overseas in Japan.

Although the UFC has yet to officially announce the card, the match up makes sense given Gustafsson’s proximity to a title shot and Mousasi’s standing as one of, if not the, top light heavyweights yet to compete in the Octagon.
