The Maximum Fighting Championship promotion has announced a lightweight matchup between Kurt Southern and Dave Castillo for the “MFC 36: Realith Check” card that’ll take place on February 15. The fight will be the first fight on the main card that will air LIVE on AXStv from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Castillo(16-5, 1NC) comes into this bout as a winner in six of his last eight bouts and spoke about the opportunity to fight in the MFC:
“I’m going to be biting at their heels. I know if I get a couple of wins starting with Southern, and I’m impressive doing it, I’m going to get my shot at the title. I’m very excited about coming to the MFC to face better opposition and to win a belt that would mean something. Now I’m here and I’m going to win it.”
Southern(10-3) comes into this fight riding a three fight winning streak, the third such streak in his career and will be looking to get closer to a MFC title shot with a win over Castillo.
