Gunnar Nelson

Two new bouts have been added to the UFC on FUEL TV 7 card as James Te Huna (15-5) faces Ryan Jimmo (17-1) in a light-heavyweight bout, and Gunnar Nelson (10-0-1) takes on Justin Edwards (8-2) in a welterweight battle. The event will take place at London’s Wembley Arena on Feb. 16.

UFC officials today announced both bouts as part of the London event.

UFC on FUEL TV 7 will feature a headline bout between UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao and challenger Michael McDonald. The main card will air on FUEL TV following the prelims which are expected to air on Facebook.

James Te Huna is currently riding a three fight winning streak, most recently defeating Joey Beltran via unanimous decision at UFC on FUEL TV 4 in July. Prior to that he scored a first round TKO victory over Aaron Rosa at UFC on FX 2 in March, and a first round KO win over Ricardo Romero at UFC 135 in September 2011. Te Huna will now doubt look to extend his winning streak to four with a big win over Jimmo.

Ryan Jimmo is on an impressive 17-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Anthony Perosh via first round KO at UFC 149 in July and earning “Knockout of the Night” honors. Prior to joining the UFC, Jimmo was the MFC light-heavyweight champ and successfully defended the belt twice during 2011 against Zak Cummings and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Jimmo will no doubt look to continue his success with a big performance against Te Huna, which will take him one step higher on the UFC’s light-heavyweight ladder.

Gunnar Nelson last fought at UFC on FUEL TV 5 in September, where he scored a first round submission victory over DaMarques Johnson in his UFC debut. Prior to that he had been competing on the European circuit, defeating notable fighters such as Danny Mitchell, Eugene Fadiora and Alexander Butenko. Nelson now has a chance to put another notch in the win column against Edwards in February.

Justin Edwards was last in action at UFC on FX 5 in October, where he scored a first round submission victory over Josh Neer. Prior to that he dropped a unanimous decision loss against John Maguire at UFC 138 in November 2011, and a unanimous decision win over Jorge Lopez at “UFC Fight Night 25” in September. Edwards will no doubt look to start himself a winning streak with a good performance against Nelson.
